Iran prepares to present a temporary Hormuz corridor, but this does not mean the strait is reopening

🇴🇲 Iran, Iraq and five Gulf states are expected to meet in Salalah, Oman on September 14 to discuss a new shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz. Bahrain will not attend, while the US remains outside the talks.

🚢 The focus is a temporary corridor framework agreed by Iran and Oman. The route would largely pass through Iranian territorial waters and is designed as a technical mechanism if shipping restrictions are eased, rather than an immediate reopening of the entire strait.

💰 Iran wants recognition of its right to collect transit fees, but Oman has not accepted mandatory charges. A voluntary contribution model for maritime safety remains under discussion.

🛢️ Hormuz traffic is still only around 5–7 ships per day versus roughly 130–140 before the crisis. Oil’s geopolitical risk premium is therefore unlikely to fade sustainably unless commercial vessels begin using the new corridor consistently.

Where is the weakness coming from?
AMBCrypto’s analysis of the market flows revealed that the current weakness is primarily arising from the derivatives market. In fact, looking at Futures flows, ONDO’s inflows have not outpaced outflows for weeks.

Over the past week, for example, the altcoin saw $444 million in Futures outflows compared to $410 million in inflows. Over this period, Futures netflow dropped 102% to -$34 million, a clear sign of aggressive market exits.

That’s not all; the Spot side has mostly seen strong market demand. The market delta, for example, has remained positive over the past week.

Coinank data showed that the altcoin delta sat around 2.1 million at press time, marking a slight drop from 2.5 million the previous day.

With derivatives selling while Spot buying, it leaves the market at a crossroads, which explains the sideways movement.

Therefore, if the market persists, we could see ONDO continue to hover around $0.34 and $0.35. However, if the recent transfer further increases the sell pressure, the altcoin will breach the range and fall to $0.32.

decentralized finance, “audited” is often presented as a verdict on an entire project. In practice, an audit usually covers named code, components and versions at a particular point in time. Anything added, excluded or operated around that boundary may carry a different level of assurance.

A new preprint puts a number on that gap. Researchers affiliated with security company ack3 and the Czech Technical University in Prague examined 135 reported incidents from the first half of 2026, with $939.86 million in attributed losses. They found identifiable public pre-incident audits for 68 incidents.

Within that 68-incident subset, the authors classified 46 attack paths as outside every audit scope they could identify, 20 as inside at least one scope and two as unresolved. The outside-scope group represented 67.6% of the incidents but 94.4% of their reported losses.

That striking percentage is not an estimate of audit effectiveness or proof that an audit’s boundaries caused a loss. It describes the distribution of losses in a selected set of reported incidents. Two large cases also dominate it: after excluding $292 million at Kelp DAO and $285 million at Drift Protocol, the outside-scope share falls to 72.1% of losses in the same audited-incident subset.

'Shibarium Isn't Abandoned': SHIB Veteran Debunks Claims of Shiba Inu L2 Not Working

Long-time Shiba Inu community member Mazrael has pushed back against claims that Shiba Inu layer 2 Shibarium is no longer functioning, saying the network remains operational despite concerns surrounding individual projects.

Mazrael's comment comes amid claims by former Shibarium-based project K9 Finance, whose developers shared a final update on its wind-down and sunset. In its update, the K9 Finance team claimed that since the Shibarium hack in September 2025, neither Shibarium nor its explorer has worked reliably, saying the Shiba Inu layer 2 "is still not reliable to this day."

In response to this claim, Mazrael clarified that Shibarium isn't "abandoned," saying that "there is infrastructure running, validators/archive infrastructure, and thousands of daily transactions and work on chain as well as environment migrations."

 "People are still building, CCIP lanes with all major chains are live and transactions are still happening, infrastructure is still being maintained and migrated, and the community is still operating around it," Mazrael added.

Mazrael noted that K9 Finance sunsetting KNINE on Shibarium is not the same thing as Shibarium being sunset. Following the dissolution of the K9 Foundation, KNINE has now been migrated from Shibarium to Base, and all liquidity has been moved with it.

Shibarium explorer faces reset
Shibarium explorer, ShibariumScan, is currently experiencing a reset with 49% of blocks indexed, which might affect the current count on the chain. Notwithstanding, the daily transaction count totaled 1,530, a drop from August 20's figure of 2,310.

As reported, Shibarium's explorer went behind Cloudflare on August 11, with a DNS change being part of the outage story.
