$GRVT Balaji Srinivasan’s Network School has begun its reign over the decentralized social platform Farcaster. Its first order of business? An apparent wave of bans that has prompted backlash from members of the decentralized social network.

Network School on Thursday announced it has acquired Farcaster from Neynar, rebranding it as the Network State Protocol. The same day, several users said on X that their Farcaster accounts had been restricted to “read-only,” as a result of previous posts that broke its new rules.

“I know most of these folks. They shaped Farcaster with their quirks and wit,” said Kunal Gandhi, former India ecosystem lead at Eigen Labs. “Obliterating accounts from the get-go for past posts is pretty silly. Goes against the ethos of decentralized social.”

The overhaul is the latest attempt to find a sustainable direction for Farcaster, which is changing hands for the second time this year. Co-founder Dan Romero said the platform had 250,000 monthly active users in December 2025.

Balaji wants the ‘Singapore of social media’
In a post to Farcaster on Thursday, Srinivasan said the bans were part of plans to turn the reference app into “the Singapore of social media,” a positive-sum community of techno-optimists that operate under a shared code of conduct.

One of the first steps was to institute “law and order,” he said. “In the pre-Internet world, it was simply unheard of to run up to a stranger and start cursing at them. We’re restoring that offline norm online.”

“Much like how President Bukele jailed a small fraction of repeat offenders to essentially eliminate crime in El Salvador, we’ve moderated out the small fraction of repeat offenders that have been muted or blocked by many accounts to stop random attacks within this Farcaster r

$GRVT SVRN, Inc., a publicly traded company focused on $NEAR, has completed an initiative to strengthen the infrastructure behind $NEAR Protocol’s Chain Signatures. The system allows users and AI agents to transact across more than 30 blockchain networks without separate wallets for each one. SVRN developed the funding program for the network’s 17 independent operators, helped approve it through $NEAR governance, and joined the network as an operator.

Chain Signatures splits cryptographic keys among 17 operators, with at least 11 required to approve a transaction. This design prevents any single operator from controlling the keys. It also allows $NEAR Intents, a system for settling transactions across networks, to operate without intermediaries such as bridges or custodians. The service has processed more than $34 billion in cross-network volume.

As part of the initiative, all operators moved their key shares into secure hardware environments based on Intel TDX. These environments prevent operators, hosting providers, and server operating systems from accessing the keys. They also produce cryptographic proofs that allow others to verify the software running inside. Trail of Bits has independently audited the network’s core components.

SVRN also led the process of evaluating operators before they joined the network. The funding program, known as HSP-007, was co-authored by SVRN CEO Sal Ternullo and approved by $NEAR’s House of Stake in February 2026. Operators receive monthly payments based on their actual uptime, with performance results published publicly.

NEAR Protocol Expands MPC Network with 17 Mainnet Operators

$NEAR Protocol is making significant strides with the expansion of its MPC network, which now operates with 17 live mainnet operators. This development, funded by the Protocol, aims to enhance the decentralized signing infrastructure essential for $NEAR Intents. This expansion could strengthen user confidence and engagement within the $NEAR ecosystem, as highlighted in $NEAR’s official announcement.

The broader crypto market is currently experiencing mixed signals, but $NEAR Protocol’s latest initiative stands out as a pivotal development. The MPC network, consisting of independent operators, is designed to enhance the reliability of Chain Signatures, which underpin $NEAR Intents.

Japan’s three largest banks have completed a joint trial of a yen-based stablecoin, confirming the feasibility of a model designed to support cross-border payments between businesses. Mizuho Bank, MUFG Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) conducted the proof of concept from July 17 to July 23, with the results announced on October 16, 2026.

Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and technology firm TISI also participated in the project. The trial focused on payments between Mitsubishi Corporation’s Japanese operations and its overseas locations, testing whether a stablecoin jointly issued by multiple banks could work within existing operational and regulatory requirements.

The project received support from Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) through its FinTech Proof-of-Concept Hub in November 2025. Its goal was to examine whether the three banks could jointly issue a yen-denominated stablecoin and use it to improve the process of settling international payments.

Under the tested structure, Mizuho, MUFG and SMBC acted as joint principals responsible for commissioning the stablecoin issuance, while Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking served as trustee. The token was issued under a trust agreement as a form of specified trust beneficiary rights defined by Japan’s Payment Services Act.

Trial Verifies Issuance, Transfers and Redemption

During the trial, the participants examined the full process of issuing, transferring and redeeming the stablecoin. They also assessed system performance, operational requirements and compliance measures needed for cross-border transactions, including anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls.

Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking reviewed the trust-related operations, management of trust assets and measures intended to protect users. TISI integrated the wallet infrastructure wi
