The GDP for the 2025 fourth quarter was revised down to 0.7% from an initial estimate of 1.4%, following 4.4% growth in the third quarter.

January core PCE rose 3.1% year over year, with a 0.4% monthly increase. January durable-goods orders were virtually unchanged, while core capital goods orders came in flat, with shipments down 0.1%. Real consumer spending edged up just 0.1%.

These numbers were delayed by last year's 43-day shutdown and hit the market after the Feb. 28 start of the US-Israeli war on Iran. Oil spiked to $119.50 this week before easing back to near $100. US gasoline prices are up 20% to $3.58 a gallon since the war began.

South Korean prosecutors have successfully recovered 320.8 BTC worth around $21.4 million after a hacker returned the funds that were previously stolen from government custody. The bitcoin was lost last August when investigators accidentally entered recovery seed phrases on a phishing website during an investigation into an online gambling platform.
Authorities quickly restricted transactions from the hacker’s wallet to centralized exchanges, making it difficult to liquidate the stolen assets. As a result, the hacker eventually returned the funds. The recovered bitcoin has now been moved to a local exchange for safekeeping while investigators continue working to identify the attacker.
Meanwhile, Robinhood’s Ethereum Layer 2 testnet has processed over 4 million transactions in its first week, according to CEO Vlad Tenev. Built on Arbitrum, the Robinhood Chain focuses on tokenized real-world assets (RWA) and on-chain financial services such as equities and ETFs.

Billionaire hedge fund manager Stan Druckenmiller, once a Bitcoin holder, has predicted the possibility of crypto replacing the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency in the future.

In a recent interview, Stanley Druckenmiller questioned whether the U.S. dollar can retain its highly sought-after status half a century from now.
