Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin laid out 3 fundamental roles for Ethereum going forward. First, a global bulletin board where data can be written permanently and visibly, with nobody able to delete it.

The PeerDAS upgrade makes this cheap to do at scale for the first time, shifting the blockchain from a computation machine to a data availability layer.
Second, a spam filter for permissionless systems. In a world where anyone can interact with any protocol, every action needs a small real cost attached to it. ETH serves as that universal friction layer, making Sybil attacks and spam economically unviable.

Third, smart contracts as a coordination standard. Not because everything needs to run on-chain, but because ETH smart contracts allow different programs to communicate and manage digital assets inside a shared environment. Zero-knowledge proofs handle the computation.

The chain handles the truth. Buterin wrapped the whole vision in a single line, calling Ethereum the world’s shared memory.
Ethereum Price Prediction:

ETH is sitting at $2,063 on the 2h chart, trading inside a rising wedge that has been forming since the February lows.

The structure tells an interesting story: while Vitalik is publicly redefining what Ethereum actually is at a fundamental level, the chart looks like a coin the market has been sleeping on, and may be waking up to.

The primary cryptocurrency registered a renewed uptick over the past hours, with its price soaring past $74,000 before it faced an immediate rejection.

The broader outlook remains bearish, with $BTC still trading far below its all-time high of over $126,000 reached last October. Analysts have highlighted several key resistance levels that must be reclaimed before bulls can regain full control.

More Gains Ahead?

The impressive revival comes on the back of Donald Trump’s recent remarks that Iran is “about to surrender” as well as the reports that the newly elected leader of the Asian country, Mojtaba Khamenei (who is the son of the late Ali Khamenei), is “likely disfigured.”

$BTC’s pump has caught the attention of multiple market observers, and some expect the rally to go on in the short term. X user Ted noted that Coinbase Premium is rising, indicating solid spot demand. He believes that holding above the $70,000 zone could lead to further gains of around $76,000.

The analyst who goes by the moniker Ardi on X claimed that the leading digital asset needs to flip the $74,000 resistance into support to actually “start looking macro bullish again.” If it could achieve that, the valuation might surge to $85,000, he added. At the same time, he warned that anything below that mark is “just price setting a macro lower high in a downtrend.”

Certain indicators suggest the asset could continue marching north. Data from SoSoValue show that over the past few days, inflows into spot $BTC ETFs have outpaced outflows. This is a clear bullish factor that displays that institutional investors, such as pension funds, hedge funds, and asset managers, have been increasing their exposure to cryptocurrency. However, what makes this divergence even more interesting is JPMorgan’s recent observation.

According to CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin ETF inflows have outpaced gold ETFs since the start of the war, with IBIT’s assets rising about 1.5% while GLD’s fell roughly 2.7%. This means that despite ongoing macro uncertainty, investors might be increasingly favoring BTC over traditional safe-haven assets.

In this context, Bitcoin’s weekly resilience isn’t a fluke. On-chain accumulation and a shift in sentiment mark key divergences that set this rally apart from the Q4 2025 FUD. If this trend continues, whale positions could be at risk of a squeeze, adding fuel to the move.
