The market is entering a phase that calls for “strategic” accumulation.

From a technical perspective, crypto has now been navigating the West Asian conflict for two weeks. So far, it has shrugged off significant downside, with most large-cap assets chopping within tight ranges, ranges that, historically, have acted as key psychological support.

Looking at the bigger picture, however, most high-cap assets have been range-bound for over four weeks. This means that, despite the war-driven volatility, these assets are holding close to their pre-conflict consolidation levels. In this context, Ethereum’s [ETH] $2k level acts as a strong psychological support.

Historically, setups like this tend to spark speculation. 

The logic is simple: during consolidation, traders increase bets on the next move. Ongoing geopolitical uncertainty is amplifying this, driving aggressive hedging and positioning for potential breakouts or breakdowns, which in turn heightens volatility around key levels.

Notably, positioning around Ethereum is following this playbook. On the derivatives side, Ethereum’s Estimated Leverage Ratio (ELR) is up nearly 15% over the past two weeks, while its Open Interest (OI) has grown by roughly $3.5 billion, signaling that traders are stacking risk anticipating a major move.

Looking at the bigger picture, tight range-bound price action and elevated leverage bets often set the stage for a volatility squeeze in either direction. That said, if accumulation shows up, could Ethereum’s chop around $2k turn into a textbook bear trap?

A Network Built On Hijacked Devices
US and European authorities announced Thursday they had shut down SocksEscort after years of operation. The service worked by infecting routers and other internet-connected devices with malware, turning them into cover points that masked the real locations of cybercriminals.

According to the Department of Justice, the network had quietly burrowed into at least 369,000 devices spread across 163 countries. Criminals could then route their attacks through those compromised machines, making them far harder to trace.

The malware at the heart of the operation — known as AVrecon — had been publicly identified by cybersecurity firm Black Lotus Labs as far back as July 2023. The network kept running anyway.

The takedown was not a single agency effort. Law enforcement from Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Romania, and the US worked the case together.

On the American side, the FBI’s Sacramento Field Office, the IRS Criminal Investigation Oakland Field Office, and the Department of Defense’s Defense Criminal Investigative Service all had a hand in it.

Europol and Eurojust provided cross-border coordination support. Black Lotus Labs and the nonprofit Shadowserver Foundation supplied technical intelligence that helped investigators connect the dots.

Over the past two weeks, we've seen a significant increase in STRC trading volume, along with growing popularity on social media platforms like X, so I thought now was a good time to write an article about Strategy and its new structure. This is my fourth article on Strategy and the Bitcoin Treasury model:

The first was an introduction to Strategy, where I clarified some common misconceptions about the model.

The second explained the "full-stack treasury company" model and the mechanism supporting its NAV positive premium.

The third introduced the preferred stock model, a brand-new model Strategy launched in 2025 and currently the company's main strategy.

In this article, we'll focus on STRC. It has now become MSTR's main preferred stock product and is currently the core focus of Michael Saylor (Strategy founder) and his management team.

 TL;DR

STRC is a yield-generating instrument backed by Strategy's Bitcoin treasury, with a dynamically adjusted dividend yield to keep the price close to par value ($100). Currently, you can earn an annualized yield of 11.5% (paid monthly) on a relatively stable and risk-transparent instrument.

STRC is essentially Strategy's way of translating yield demand into structural buying pressure on BTC. As long as Strategy operates both the STRC and MSTR ATM issuance mechanisms simultaneously (and mNAV > 1), this structure can scale significantly without increasing MSTR leverage. This means Strategy can absorb billions of dollars (or more) of new demand for STRC while maintaining leverage at approximately 33% and keeping credit risk unchanged.
