Solana price prediction: risky pattern forms despite solid metrics
Solana price has formed a bearish flag chart pattern on the daily chart.

Spot SOL ETFs have added substantial assets in the past few months.

The coin may have a strong bearish breakdown in the near term.

Solana price has recoiled in a narrow range in the last month. SOL held between the key support and resistance levels at $75 and $93 in this period. It remains 66% below its highest point in September last year, and this trend may continue after forming a bearish flag pattern.

Solana price has held in the past four weeks despite the network having some of the best fundamentals in the crypto industry.

One of the top catalysts is that spot SOL ETFs have continued adding assets this month. These funds added over $21.5 million in assets this month. 

They have added assets in the last six consecutive months, bringing the cumulative total to $955 million. They hold $815 million in assets, with Bitwise, Grayscale, Fidelity, and VanEck having the most assets.

Notably, most of the assets are held by institutional investors. Data shows that the biggest holders of Solana ETFs are companies like Electric Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs, Elequin Capital, SIG Holdings, and Multicoin Capital Management.

Bitcoin ETFs see $167M in inflows as BTC surges above $71KUS-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded net inflows on Monday, ending a two-session stretch of withdrawals.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $167 million in net inflows during the session, according to data from SoSoValue.

The inflows followed approximately $577 million in combined outflows on Thursday and Friday.

The renewed demand coincided with a rebound in the price of Bitcoin, which climbed toward $71,000 as broader market sentiment improved.

Altcoin ETFs continue to see selling

While Bitcoin-linked products attracted fresh capital, funds tied to other major cryptocurrencies continued to experience selling pressure.

Exchange-traded funds tracking Ethereum, XRP, and Solana all recorded net outflows on Monday.

Ether ETFs posted $51 million in outflows, XRP funds saw withdrawals of $18 million, and Solana ETFs recorded $2.5 million in outflows, according to SoSoValue.

The declines marked the third consecutive day of withdrawals across altcoin funds.

Ethereum-linked products experienced the largest cumulative losses during the period, with about $225 million exiting over three trading sessions.

Although selling pressure in Ethereum and Solana ETFs appeared to be easing toward the end of the period, XRP funds continued to see larger withdrawals, totalling roughly $41 million since Thursday.

Solana ETFs saw about $16 million in cumulative outflows over the same timeframe.

Notably, the withdrawals occurred even as the underlying cryptocurrencies posted gains of roughly 3% to 5% over the past 24 hours, based on data from CoinGecko.

Solana ETFs ‘Defy Physics’ Amid Price Weakness: Where Is the Demand Coming From?

The broader crypto market weakness and investor risk aversion have weighed heavily on Solana’s ($SOL) price, with the asset down over 31% year-to-date.

Despite this, the spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) still paint a picture of resilience. This raises a key question: Where is the demand coming from?

Solana ETFs See Demand Even as $SOL Price Falls Since Launch

In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post, Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas highlighted that Solana spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted $1.5 billion in inflows since launching in July 2025, even as $SOL’s price dropped roughly 57% over the same period.

Balchunas noted that, when adjusted for Solana’s market cap compared to Bitcoin ($BTC), the inflows equated to approximately $54 billion. That figure is roughly twice the pace of Bitcoin ETFs at a comparable stage, at a period when $BTC was actually rising.

BeInCrypto previously highlighted the divergence between $SOL’s declining price and its persistent ETF demand. The ETFs maintained a positive inflow streak since February 10, defying broader market volatility.

However, that positive streak ended recently. Data from SoSoValue showed that over the past three trading sessions, Solana ETFs saw consecutive outflows totalling nearly $16 million. This marked their longest red streak. Furthermore, cumulative inflows now stand at $955.5 million.

Bitcoin (BTC) slipped after the last week’s brief rally, as a surge in oil prices influenced Asian equity markets on March 9. In the last 24 hours, the price slipped around 1.87% and stood at $66,010.

It also showed a 10% drop from the latest peak of $73,500 noted on March 5. This pullback took bitcoin back to the point where it was witnessed before the brief surge. An analyst at Zeus Research, Dominick John, noted that this slip to $66k is mainly influenced by macro-driven pullback.

He further added that increased geopolitical risk, mainly the absence of de-escalation in the Middle East, took markets into a more risk-off posture, while increasing oil prices are adding to inflation issues and tightening global financial conditions.

Because of sustaining tensions in the Middle East, the price of crude oil increased to cross $110 per barrel, surging 22% on the day and 72% in the last month, as per Trading Economics.

On March 8, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that a short-term increase in oil prices is a very small price to pay, mentioning that prices would stabilise once the destruction of the Iranian nuclear threat is terminated.

‘The increasing price of oil is a prominent factor in influencing inflation and could take the global economic growth down, given that it is used as an input for a lot of products across various industries, and this issue is what is influencing bitcoin to dip,’ mentioned Jeff Mei, COO at BTSE.
