Once the diagnosis is established, the next step is what could come next for the possibility of an altcoin season. Interestingly, Sykodelic’s analysis also looks at what may be changing now for the altcoin market. According to the analyst, the correct environment is being built for the alt expansion.

His chart suggests Fed net liquidity has bottomed and started to reverse upward, while PMI has moved back above contraction territory and into expansion. For instance, the ISM Manufacturing PMI registered 52.6% in January 2026, which is a 4.7-percentage-point jump from December’s reading of 47.9%. The PMI fell to 52.4 in February 2026 from 52.6 in January but remained above market expectations of 51.8.

Those two changes, taken together, could begin building the exact background that altcoins were missing. The green projection box to the right of the current price, as drawn on the chart above, targets a move back to the $560 billion range for the OTHERS index market cap.

Triangle breakout shifts XRP market structure

Ripple [XRP] has broken above the symmetrical triangle that had constrained price action for several weeks.

The breakout occurred as buyers reclaimed the $1.46 resistance zone at press time after repeated consolidation between $1.33 support and $1.46 resistance. Price compression inside the triangle had gradually tightened volatility before the breakout attempt developed.

However, the breakout move signaled a potential structural shift in short-term market dynamics.

Buyers have continued to defend higher lows along the rising trendline while pressing against overhead resistance levels.

Such behavior reflects growing demand around XRP’s aforementioned price range. As a result, the breakout above the upper boundary placed attention on higher liquidity zones near $1.64.

Altcoin market capitalization (TOTAL2) has climbed back above $1 trillion. It closed the second week of March with its first green weekly candle after seven consecutive red weeks.

At the same time, the Altcoin Season Index has returned to the level seen at the beginning of the year. This development has raised hopes for an altcoin season in March, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Several analysts identify additional factors that could support an altcoin season. However, capital flows currently appear to concentrate on only a few specific narratives.

Altcoin Season Index and Tether Dominance ($USDT.D) Suggest a Potential Altseason in March

At the start of the third week of March, the Altcoin Season Index rose to 49 points. This level is at its highest since January 9.

The index still remains far below the 75-point threshold required to officially confirm an altcoin season. Even so, the sharp rebound from its recent lows suggests that investors are becoming more willing to allocate capital to altcoins.

During the same period, the dominance of the stablecoin Tether ($USDT.D) has begun to show a clear bearish signal.

$USDT.D measures the share of $USDT within the total crypto market capitalization. When this metric declines, it often indicates that investors are spending $USDT to purchase altcoins.

Analyst Gordon examined the 4-day chart of $USDT.D and detected a bearish MACD-H crossover. Historical data shows that this signal has repeatedly predicted short- and medium-term altcoin recoveries.

This curved formation reflected a prolonged phase where buyers steadily absorbed supply, allowing the market to stabilize before advancing.

As the accumulation process matured, HYPE’s price began pushing into higher levels that had previously acted as resistance. The first notable level sat near $36.50. Once this barrier was cleared, the upward move accelerated toward the next target positioned around $38.50.

Both levels were taken out within a short period, confirming that the earlier consolidation phase had evolved into a stronger expansion move. The breakout also coincided with price following the upward arc of the accumulation curve, reinforcing the idea that the structure served as a base for continuation rather than a temporary rebound.

With these resistance levels now behind the market, the chart shows Hyperliquid (HYPE) trading above them, effectively transforming former barriers into areas that could now support price during any short-term pullbacks.
