Why is it Called Hedera? The Meaning Behind The Name And The HBAR Ticker

Hedera is the Latin name for the ivy genus, a group of climbing evergreen plants. The network adopted the name in 2018, though Hedera has not published a detailed reason for the choice.

The $HBAR ticker has a clearer origin. Hedera says it comes from physics: ħ, read as “h-bar,” is the symbol for the reduced Planck constant.

XRP Rich List October Reveals the XRP Holdings of Top Wallets
The amount of $XRP needed to rank among the top 10% of $XRP wallets has fallen slightly in October 2026, while the threshold for the largest 0.01% of wallets has increased, according to the latest $XRP rich list update.

The data shows that an $XRP wallet needs about 2,088 $XRP to rank within the top 10%. The threshold rises to 7,311 $XRP for the top 5% and about 43,926 $XRP for the top 1%.

According to the update, only around 822 wallets hold at least 3.83 million $XRP, placing them in the top 0.01% of wallets.

$XRP Top 10% Threshold Falls

The amount needed to enter several major $XRP wallet rankings has declined compared with the previous update. The top 10% threshold fell from around 2,110 $XRP to 2,088 $XRP. The top 5% threshold declined from about 7,400 $XRP to 7,311 $XRP.

The top 1% threshold also decreased from approximately 44,237 $XRP to 43,926 $XRP, while the top 0.5% threshold fell from around 80,000 $XRP to 79,597 $XRP.

The top 0.1% threshold remained relatively stable at roughly 275,000 $XRP.

Top 0.01% $XRP Wallets See Higher Threshold

The biggest change came at the top end of the $XRP rich list.

The amount required to rank among the top 0.01% increased from approximately 3.65 million $XRP to 3.83 million $XRP.

This indicates that the largest $XRP wallet addresses have increased their balances relative to the previous update. However, the wallet data alone does not identify whether these addresses belong to individual investors, exchanges, custodians, institutions or other entities.

XMR Means Private, decentralized cryptocurrency

$GRVT A weakening US dollar could give crypto the “green light” and help extend the industry’s rally, says Real Vision founder Raoul Pal.

He tells Cointelegraph on the latest episode of Trade Secrets that higher bond yields and the strong dollar are keeping liquidity from flowing freely.

“If they can engineer the dollar lower, then we get a green light for further movement in crypto,” he says. “I don’t want to get overly excited, so I haven’t got a full green light on everything.”

However he believes Bitcoin will miss out of much of the crypto economic activity generated by AI agents, which is likely to flow to smart contract platforms like Ethereum and Solana.

Pal is among the most experienced high profile crypto analysts, having worked in hedge fund sales at Goldman Sachs in Europe and co-managed a global macro fund at GLG Partners. He launched the research platform Global Macro Investor in 2005 and co-founded financial media Real Vision in 2014.

Pal says he first bought Bitcoin in 2013, after applying a gold-based valuation framework to the cryptocurrency.

An AI pause could help crypto catch up
Bitcoin’s cycle recovery arguably came between Aug. 19 and Aug. 25 when BTC rose about 25% to $80,000. Interestingly, over that period, AI bellwether stock Nvidia notched up seven consecutive losing sessions.

Pal says pauses in the AI trade have allowed capital to rotate into crypto.

“You can tell there’s this sort of rotation for liquidity that’s around right now, which means it’s not abundant yet,” he says.
