The Ethereum Foundation (EF) announced that it has completed an over-the-counter (OTC) sale of 5,000 ETH over the weekend. According to the organization’s disclosure, proceeds from this sale will be directed towards its core operations and other activities.

Ethereum Foundation Sells $10 Million In ETH To BitMine
In a March 14 post on the social media platform X, the Ethereum Foundation said that it finalized a 5,000 ETH OTC deal, valued at roughly $10.21 million. The EF identified BitMine Immersion Technologies, the world’s largest corporate holder of Ether, as the counterparty (buyer) in this over-the-counter deal.

The Ethereum Foundation revealed that the Ether tokens will be sold to BitMine at an average price of $2,042.96. Hence, this deal could be viewed as a fresh acquisition for BitMine, an ETH treasury company currently holding more than 4.5 million Ether valued at approximately $9.3 billion.

The EF disclosed that the on-chain transaction will come from a Safe multisig wallet, with proceeds from the sale directed toward the foundation’s core operations and activities, including protocol research and development (R&D), ecosystem development, community grant funding, and so on.

The organization also mentioned that the transaction is part of ongoing treasury management activity based on a recently published policy. In its treasury policy in June 2025, the foundation revealed that Ether tokens will be sold to maintain its fiat-denominated assets from the Opex (operating expense) Buffer target.

Other strategies for their Ether holdings include staking, with over 2,000 ETH deployed so far, and plans to supply around 70,000 ETH into validators using open-source infrastructure from third-party providers.

On the evening of March 15th, local time in the United States, the 98th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. However, outside of this grand event, one platform stole the show – Kalshi.

While Conan O'Brien hosted the awards ceremony live on ABC and Hulu, traders on the Kalshi and Polymarket platforms had already poured over $120 million into Oscar-related contracts. This is the largest betting frenzy in the history of regulated prediction markets during awards season. Driven by this was the landmark guidance and regulatory rules issued three days prior by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Kalshi alone saw trading volume exceed $58 million, and it continued to rise in real-time during the awards ceremony; Polymarket contributed the remaining trading volume, bringing the total to over $120 million.  This figure is roughly six to seven times the volume of Kalshi's entire awards season transactions last year, a huge leap compared to 2025.

Kalshi's PR director, Elisabeth Diana, told me in an email, "The Oscars are so hot in the trading market because it's the ultimate test of 'collective intelligence.'"

Many celebrities also participated personally. On the Oscars red carpet that night, Kevin O'Leary, star of the reality show *The Wise Man*—who also starred in *Marty the Great* (also known as *The Wise Man*) starring Timothée Chalamet—publicly announced that he had personally placed a $1,000 bet on Kalshi, wagering that Timothée Chalamet would win Best Actor. This action was entirely spontaneous, without any commercial cooperation, paid promotion, or pre-arrangement.

The rally comes as institutional demand for Bitcoin ETFs continues to grow.
BTC could rally towards TLQ at $79,333 if the bullish momentum persists.
Bitcoin has continued its positive start to the week, currently up 2% over the last 24 hours.

The leading cryptocurrency briefly touched the $75,988.40 mark during the Asian trading session on Tuesday.

However, it has slightly retraced and is now trading at $74,700 per coin.

Institutional demand supports the positive outlook, as spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) recorded their third consecutive week of inflows amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

Bitcoin’s breakout could push it towards the Transactional Liquidity (TLQ) above $79,000 in the near term.

Institutional demand drives BTC’s price
Bitcoin has been rallying over the past two weeks, driven by growing institutional demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs.

According to SoSoValue data, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded inflows of $767.33 million last week, following $568.45 million in positive flows the previous week.

This marks the third consecutive week of inflows, indicating growing demand for Bitcoin-related products.

If these inflows continue and intensify, BTC could see further gains in the coming weeks.

Santiment also revealed that the percentage of Bitcoin held on exchanges has dropped to its lowest level since November 2017.

Typically, a decline in exchange balances indicates that fewer coins are available for sale.

A falling exchange supply generally supports the bullish case for Bitcoin, as it signals reduced sell pressure.
