Time is running out for traditional betting companies; this may be the latest consensus in the prediction market sector.

In the recently concluded Oscars, Kalshi and Polymarket's combined betting volume surpassed $100 million for the first time, a figure that was less than ten million dollars last year. Meanwhile, Kalshi partnered with Cash App to streamline user payment channels; Polymarket, after launching its AI Agent CLI application, now supports 24/7 transactions via Alchemy's AgentCard. In 2026, a pivotal year for predictions, the two giants of the prediction market are vying for new users from traditional betting companies, internet platforms, and even traditional media and finance. This time, they are primarily targeting real users on payment channels and tireless AI agents.

Last week, renowned investment firm Paradigm released its first poll of the year, and also its first survey report on prediction market platforms.

The survey results show that over one-third (approximately 36%) of American voters have used prediction markets, either by placing bets or browsing for information.

Regarding user demographics, those under 50 years old account for a significant 66% of prediction market users, with 18-34 year olds making up 20% and 35-49 year olds accounting for 27%. Non-white voters show slightly higher usage rates than white voters, and men show significantly higher usage rates than women (46% vs. 31%).

This indicates that in the US market, prediction markets are no longer a niche market, but rather an "information source," "trading platform," and "information pool" closely connected to every household.

Erik Voorhees has returned to the Ethereum market, as on-chain data shows wallets linked to him have purchased tens of thousands of Ethereum worth over $50 million in two separate wallets.

The on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain reported on March 16 that Voorhees, who is a founder of ShapeShift, bought Ethereum after a year break, spent nearly 49.08 million USDT to purchase 23,393 ETH at an average price of $2,098.

Before this, on March 15, the report mentioned that Voorhees had sold around 12,886 ETH, which was worth about $42.83 million at that time; the ETH price was $3,324.

When combining both wallets, Voheers collectively bought 24,968 ETH, worth about $56.16 million. With that, the wallet 0x3e68A... holds around 4.442 million USDT and 8.64 million AETHUSDT (Aave Ethereum USDT), as per Arkham reports. As Voorhees’ accumulation after a gap may be part of a greater wave of institutional investors showing long-term conviction in the cryptocurrency.

Apart from Ethereum, Voheers created 28 new wallets, where he has been heavily investing in gold assets since Jan 31. As per the report, Voheers has spent $23.76M to purchase 2,834 Tether Gold (XAUT) and 2,019 PAX Gold (PAXG).

Aside from Erik Voorhees, Lookonchain also reported on the same day that Billy Luedtke, an early Ethereum user and CEO of Intuition Protocol, purchased 7,769 ETH at an average price of $2,248, so in total, Luedtke spent around $17.26 million.

Ethereum ($ETH) surged past the $2,200 mark during early Asian trading hours today, reaching its highest level in over a month.

As the second-largest cryptocurrency extends its green streak from the weekend, on-chain data reveals crypto whales are capitalizing on the momentum with notable accumulation.

Ethereum Whales Ramp Up Accumulation

Lookonchain reported that Erik Voorhees, an early Bitcoin advocate and the founder of ShapeShift, has resumed buying $ETH after a roughly 1-year hiatus.

Voorhees had sold 12,886 $ETH for approximately $42.83 million at an average price of $3,324 a year ago. In March 2026, two wallets linked to him have accumulated 23,393 $ETH, worth about $49.08 million. The average purchase price was $2,098.

“He still holds 35.25M USDT and may buy more $ETH,” Lookonchain wrote.

The platform also highlighted that a wallet (0xf792) linked to an early Ethereum contributor has also spent $17.46 million to purchase 7,769 $ETH at an average price of $2,248.

The buying trend is not new. BeInCrypto reported that since March 11, wallet 0x8E34 has withdrawn 80,157 $ETH from exchanges. At the same time, another large investor, wallet 0x743d, spent $24.79 million to purchase 11,985 $ETH.

Overall, whale wallet holdings rose from 113.47 million to 121.45 million between March 12 and press time, an increase of approximately 7.98 million, according to Santiment data.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson calls for a new vote over 18.81 million NIGHT tokens linked to Liqwid.

Hoskinson says insiders should step aside from governance vote to ensure fair decision by independent token holders.

Liqwid responded saying it understands community concerns and will soon share next steps regarding the dispute.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson calls for a revote over the distribution of NIGHT tokens linked to the DeFi lending protocol Liqwid. In a March 15 livestream from Wyoming, he said project insiders should step aside from the voting process to keep the decision fair.

Meanwhile, the dispute involves about 18.81 million NIGHT tokens, worth close to $1 million.
The controversy centers on nearly 18.81 million NIGHT tokens, tied to Liqwid’s ADA market and currently valued at close to $1 million.

According to community discussions, the tokens were originally linked to commitments made during the Midnight ecosystem’s Glacier Drop, where assets placed in smart contracts were expected to be returned to their rightful owners. 

Hoskinson noted that in October, the Liqwid team publicly indicated that 100% of the assets held in the protocol’s smart contracts would be returned. 

Perhaps, the protocol later moved the decision to a DAO governance vote, which created controversy within the community. Some members believe the vote was unfair because people connected to the project could benefit directly from the result.
