Avalanche Staking Goes Tradable as Grayscale's GAVA Hits NASDAQ

Grayscale Investments® has taken another step into tokenized finance with the launch of the Grayscale Avalanche Staking ETF, which began trading on NASDAQ on March 12, 2026, under the ticker GAVA. The new exchange-traded product is built to provide investors with exposure to AVAX, the native token of the Avalanche network, while also incorporating staking into the fund's strategy so the product may earn rewards tied to network participation.

The fund, formally called the Grayscale Avalanche Staking ETF, is structured as an exchange traded product rather than a traditional 40 Act-registered ETF, a distinction Grayscale stresses in regulatory disclosures and marketing materials. That means the product is not subject to the same Investment Company Act of 1940 rules and investor protections that govern most mutual funds and conventional ETFs; Grayscale and its filings warn that GAVA carries heightened volatility and that an investment in the product is not equivalent to a direct holding of AVAX.

US sanctions DPRK IT facilitators over crypto transactions in $800 million scheme
The U.S. Treasury said it sanctioned six individuals and two entities for facilitating DPRK IT worker schemes that generated nearly $800 million in 2024 to fund the regime’s weapons programs. 

The designations include facilitators who enabled cryptocurrency transactions or converted funds into crypto, including about $2.5 million converted between mid-2023 and mid-2025.
The Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned six individuals and two entities for their roles in facilitating North Korean IT worker schemes, which generated nearly $800 million in 2024 for the regime's weapons of mass destruction programs.

The action targets operatives based in North Korea, Vietnam, Laos and Spain who enabled fraudulent remote employment at U.S. companies and subsequent money laundering through cryptocurrency, according to the Treasury's Thursday statement.

Among the designated facilitators, Nguyen Quang Viet, CEO of Vietnam-based Quangvietdnbg International Services Company, converted approximately $2.5 million into crypto for North Koreans between mid-2023 and mid-2025, including illicit earnings from IT workers associated with sanctioned entity Amnokgang Technology Development Company, per the statement.

Hoang Van Nguyen, a Vietnamese national, was designated for assisting previously sanctioned DPRK nuclear procurement facilitator Kim Se Un in opening bank accounts and enabling crypto transactions, including facilitating a counterfeit cigarette deal worth more than $200,000 on Kim's behalf in 2022, OFAC said. 

The agency also added multiple crypto addresses to its "specially designated nationals list" across several blockchain networks, according to a separate statement.
