Ava Labs joins Mastercard program to transform global payments The gap between traditional banking and the digital asset world is closing.

Ava Labs, the technology company building the Avalanche L1 blockchain, has officially joined the newly launched Mastercard Crypto Partner Program.

This initiative is designed to bring the efficiency of digital assets to global commerce.

According to Mastercard, digital assets are moving past their initial phase. Blockchain technology is increasingly being applied behind the scenes to solve practical needs.

By participating in this program, Ava Labs will collaborate with Mastercard teams to design future products that merge the programmability of digital assets with established global card networks.

A roster of digital heavyweights

Ava Labs is participating in this initiative alongside a broad group of financial institutions and payment providers.

Mastercard has united more than 85 companies, including Circle, Polygon, Ripple, and Solana, to create a forum for dialogue as the industry matures.

The goal for this coalition is practical execution. Mastercard stated it will continue to focus on "enabling trust, setting standards and connecting systems at scale."

The Mastercard collaboration is the latest development for the team behind the Avalanche project.

The reasons are obvious: Open blockchains by default (such as many L1/L2 blockchains) expose an institution's financial workflows, making it impossible to handle confidential business; while completely isolated private blockchains, while protecting privacy, sever interoperability and liquidity with the broader ecosystem, turning them into isolated islands. What institutions truly need is: confidentiality, settlement to Ethereum, and preservation of composability and deep liquidity. Selective disclosure mechanisms become a crucial bridge for regulatory coordination—proving compliance to regulators without revealing core business secrets.

Currently, the cryptocurrency market is going through one of the longest periods of negative sentiment in its history. The market has been in the Extreme Fear zone for 45 straight days, according to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

Extreme fear is prevalent

This is a concerning milestone that indicates a high level of investor uncertainty. Right now, the index is in the Extreme Fear range at about 15. This range has historically indicated a market that is characterized by caution, risk aversion and waning confidence.
The duration of the fear, in addition to its intensity, is what makes the current situation unique. In cryptocurrency markets, prolonged episodes of intense fear are uncommon. Instead, they usually alternate between optimism and panic more rapidly.

The price performance of Bitcoin shows why sentiment has declined so dramatically. After a recent decline that saw prices drop into the mid-$60,000 range earlier in the year, the top cryptocurrency is now trading close to $71,500. Even with the comeback, the overall pattern still shows that the market is having difficulty picking up steam following a sharp decline from earlier highs.

SEC drops fraud case against BitClout founder Nader ‘Diamondhands’ Al-Naji


The US Securities and Exchange Commission has agreed to dismiss its civil fraud lawsuit against Nader Al-Naji, the founder of the BitClout blockchain project, now DeSo, according to a joint stipulation filed this week in the Southern District of New York.

The SEC originally filed the lawsuit in July 2024, accusing Al-Naji of conducting an unregistered securities offering through the sale of BTCLT, the native token of BitClout.

Al-Naji allegedly marketed BitClout as a decentralized project with no central operator, even launching the platform under the pseudonym “Diamondhands.” The SEC claimed that despite these claims, he maintained control over token issuance, pricing, and the treasury wallet holding investor funds.

The complaint also alleged that Al-Naji misused investor funds, spending millions on personal expenses, including luxury housing and transfers to family members, while publicly stating that treasury funds would not be used for personal compensation.

In the joint stipulation, the SEC said it reevaluated the evidentiary record and circumstances of the case and decided dismissal was appropriate. The parties agreed to dismiss the litigation with prejudice for the conduct alleged in the complaint.

Al-Naji founded BitClout in 2021 as a decentralized, Twitter-like platform where users could invest in tokens representing social influence. The project received funding from top venture investors such as a16z, Sequoia, and Coinbase Ventures.

After facing criticism for scraping user data and questions about its decentralization, as well as legal challenges, the platform was renamed DeSo (Decentralized Social).
