The US Securities and Exchange Commission is planning to roll out a proposal that would permit public firms to report earnings twice a year rather than the long-standing quarterly reporting need.

As per the report published by The Wall Street Journal, the proposal can roll out anytime in the upcoming month. Before publishing the rule, regulators have been having words with prominent stock exchanges regarding how their listing needs might need to change if firms are given the option to report results every six months rather than every quarter.

If the proposal were officially issued, it would also interfere with the SEC’s rulemaking process, which comprises a public comment duration that normally lasts around 30 days before the commission votes on whether to adopt the change.

However, there is not confirmation that the rule will eventually be passed and approved. The plan would not kick out the quarterly report completely. Rather than this, it would make quarterly disclosure optional, permitting firms to choose whether to carry on publishing financial updates every three months.

Quarterly earnings reports have remained an integral part of U.S. capital markets since 1970, when regulators rolled out the Form 10-Q filing need to offer investors regular updates on firms’ performance.

Supporters of the change claim that quarterly reporting supports excessive short-term pressure on corporate management and imposes prominent compliance costs for public firms.

Advocates mention that suppressing the frequency of needed disclosure could help reverse the long-term fall in the number of publicly listed firms in the United States. Although critics have alerted that less frequent reporting could weaken transparency.

According to Some Economists, the Fed May Raise Interest Rates This Year: What Are the Expectations?

The volatility created in global energy markets by the war with Iran in the Middle East could complicate the Fed’s interest rate cut plans. Rising oil and natural gas prices, creating new pressure on inflation, have significantly weakened expectations for an interest rate cut.

Economists expect the Fed to keep its policy interest rate unchanged at its March 18 meeting. However, many analysts had previously predicted a first rate cut in June. The war with Iran, however, has rapidly increased energy prices, leading to a reassessment of these predictions. According to Wall Street analysts, the increase in energy costs could lead to price increases in many areas, including transportation, food, and utilities.

This situation presents a difficult balance for the Fed. On the one hand, the central bank is trying to bring inflation down to its target level of 2% annually, while on the other hand, it has to support a labor market that is showing signs of slowing. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, one of the inflation indicators most closely watched by the Fed, which was released on March 13, showed that prices continued to rise in January. It is noteworthy that this increase occurred before the full impact of the Iran war was felt in energy markets.

According to CME FedWatch data, which is based on futures markets, there is a 99% probability that the Fed will keep interest rates unchanged at 3.5%–3.75% at its March 18 meeting. The same tool calculates a 95% probability that the Fed will not change rates at its April 30 meeting, and a 77% probability at its June meeting. A month ago, these probabilities were 70% and 31%, respectively.

i think we local bottom here and do something like this for the next 2-3 weeks - germany is almost finished selling their coins and i think only $300M is left which is not a very big deal - we have untapped highs at $63ks which would be ideal to take out the only issue is we keep getting rejected at 1D EMA200 so im being patient here but overall expecting a bullish chop for the rest of july (invalidation for this would be losing $55k in which case we'll probably sweep the last low) oh and ghost month starts 18th august 😉
