20 million coins out of Bitcoin’s 21 million supply cap have now been mined. Here’s how long it will take for the remaining tokens to hit circulation.

Bitcoin Supply Reaches 20 Million Milestone After 6,267 Days
In a new post on X, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode has discussed the latest milestone achieved by the Bitcoin network: more than 20 million tokens have now entered circulation. The cryptocurrency’s supply grows whenever miners add a new block to the chain and receive the corresponding block reward. This inflation of the asset isn’t fixed, decreasing with time as events known as Halvings take place. Initially, Bitcoin started out with a block subsidy of 50 BTC, but four Halving events have occurred since then, bringing the metric down to just 3.125 BTC.

Halvings occur about every four years, with the next such event being estimated to occur sometime in 2028. Thus, as time passes, the block reward will only shrink further, reducing the growth rate of the asset’s supply. There is a limit to how small the block reward will become, however, as the cryptocurrency’s supply itself has a hard cap: 21 million tokens. After this figure is reached, no more block subsidy will be handed out, so no more Halving events will occur, either.

With the Bitcoin supply now hitting the 20 million mark, more than 95% of all BTC that will ever be has hit circulation. This milestone was cleared on Monday as block 940,000 was mined. It took the network 6,267 days or roughly 17 years to reach this point. Glassnode has shared a chart that compares the supply record against some of the other 20 million milestones achieved by Bitcoin in its history.

A former Ripple senior engineer, Steven Zeiler, has reignited a long-forgotten discussion in the XRP community by explaining why the once-promising Codius project quietly faded from view years ago. Zeiler argued that the project lacked a token, and without one, it failed to gain traction. His claim drew sharp debate from validators and caught the attention of many community members.

Why The Codius Project Failed
On March 8, Zeiler, who now serves as a developer evangelist at the Yellow Network, took to X to offer a frank reflection on why Codius, the decentralized computing platform, never gained the traction its creators expected. Zeiler and his team built Codius after leaving Ripple, and looking back, the former senior engineer noted that the project was missing a crucial piece that he believes doomed it from the start.

According to Zeiler, the technology behind Codius was solid, and the vision was clear. Still, the project lacked a native token to bootstrap the network or incentivize early adopters, the people who took the risk to deploy the software. He drew a direct comparison to the Ethereum blockchain, arguing that the “genius” of the ETH token gave people a tangible reason to get involved before the network proved itself.

Zeiler connected this lesson directly to the launch of the Yellow token, framing native assets as essential for rewarding the risk-takers who deploy software, contribute to code, and build early momentum. He noted that continually enabling self-executing applications that do not rely on third-party brokers increases the value of the underlying network. The former Ripple senior executive concluded his post with a pointed observation that every great technology needs powerful incentives to scale.

The token jumped to an intraday high near $35 as trading activity exploded on the platform. Volume on its oil perpetuals surged past $1.4 billion, driven by rising geopolitical tensions and wild moves in energy markets.

While most of the crypto market struggled, Hyperliquid actually benefited from the chaos. Traders piled into tokenized oil contracts, pushing daily volume close to $1.39 billion, second only to Bitcoin on the exchange.
At the same time, the platform rolled out a major upgrade to its margin system. The new portfolio margin feature is designed to make trading more capital efficient while reducing risk during extreme volatility.

Nansen analyst Nicolai Søndergaard said that dynamic scaling reduces systemic risk, making the platform safer for aggressive positioning on volatile assets.

The Levels That Change Everything for Hyperliquid (HYPE)

HYPE is still holding strong momentum. The token is up about 5% in the last 24 hours and roughly 120% over the past year. Even while much of the crypto market struggles, the chart continues printing higher lows, keeping the broader uptrend intact.
Right now, the level everyone is watching is $35.28. That recent intraday high is the key resistance. If HYPE manages to close above it on lower timeframes, the chart opens the door toward $38 and potentially the $40 psychological level.
On the downside, $32.50 is the main support. That area has acted as a launchpad during previous pullbacks. If it breaks, the next liquidity zone sits closer to $30. A deeper drop below $28.50 would be needed to truly damage the bullish structure.

Part of the strength comes from growing activity on the platform itself. Open interest has climbed to around $1.2 billion as traders increasingly use Hyperliquid to trade not just crypto, but also assets like oil during major global events.
