Solana has surpassed Ethereum in total Real-World Asset (RWA) holders, a positive sign for the network. However, Ethereum still leads in total tokenized value across these networks.

Solana Surpasses Ethereum in RWA Holders

Solana posted on the X platform that data from RWA.xyz shows the network has surpassed Ethereum in total RWA holders for the first time. SOL currently has 157,112 RWA holders, compared to Ethereum's 153,592. Notably, the Plume network leads all networks with 263,132 RWA holders, despite having a lower total RWA value than both Ethereum and Solana.

Over the past 30 days, Plume's RWA holder count has decreased by nearly 3%, while Ethereum and SOL have increased by 8% and 7%, respectively. Although SOL has surpassed Ethereum in total RWA holders, Ethereum still leads with a total RWA value of $15.4 billion (excluding stablecoins).

The Solana network's total RWA value is $1.8 billion, lagging behind networks like the BNB chain and XRP Ledger (XRPL). Furthermore, Ethereum leads Solana with 675 tokenized projects compared to Solana's 345. The largest projects on Ethereum are Tether Gold, Paxos Gold, Syrup USDC, and BlackRock's BUIDL Fund.

The largest projects on Solana are BlackRock's BUIDL Fund, PRIME, Ondo Tokenization Fund, and OnRe Tokenization Reinsurance. However, it's worth noting that Ethereum and Solana still lag behind Arbitrum in the number of tokenized projects on their networks. Arbitrum currently has 1,763 RWA projects, but still trails Ethereum and Solana in both total RWA value and number of holders.

SOL Emerges in the Stablecoin Sector

Data shared by Visa shows that the Solana network surpassed Ethereum in stablecoin trading volume last month.  SOL recorded a stablecoin trading volume of $660.64 billion, while Ethereum's stablecoin trading volume in February was $548.82 billion.

BlackRock’s newly launched staked Ethereum ETF, trading under the ticker ETHB, recorded a robust first day of trading with approximately $15.5 million in volume and over 590,000 shares exchanged. Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst James Seyffart described the debut as “very, very solid” for a new ETF, noting that the fund had started the day with just over $100 million in assets and had already reached $11.1 million in volume by mid-afternoon.
The ETF provides exposure to Ethereum while incorporating staking, allowing investors to earn yield through validator participation on the Ethereum network. At press time, Ethereum was trading around $2,110, near the psychologically significant $2,000 level amid ongoing market volatility.
Analysts consider the initial trading activity a strong start for ETHB, signaling continued institutional interest in Ether-based investment products and suggesting growing demand for regulated crypto exposure through mainstream financial channels.

On-chain data shows the Bitcoin spot volume has shown resilience recently while the rest of the cryptocurrency sector has seen a slump.

Altcoins Have Noted A Decline In Spot Activity Since Late January
As highlighted by on-chain analytics firm Glassnode in a new post on X, Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency market have diverged in terms of the spot trading volume.

The “spot trading volume” is a metric that measures, as its name suggests, the total amount of a given asset that’s becoming involved in trading activities in spot markets.

When the value of this indicator rises, it means more of the cryptocurrency is being shifted around on spot exchanges. Such a trend can be a sign that trading interest in the coin is going up.

On the other hand, the metric observing a decline suggests investor attention may be moving away from the asset as the amount of spot trades is trending down.

Now, here is the chart shared by Glassnode that shows the trend in the 7-day rolling mean value of the spot trading volume for Bitcoin, as well as combined that of the top 500 digital assets:

As is visible in the above graph, the aggregated spot volume for the top 500 cryptocurrencies has been on the way down since October of last year. This decline in trading activity has coincided with a drawdown for the market. Generally, periods with consolidation or bearish action tend to scare investors away, so the recent trend may not be surprising.

What’s interesting, however, is the trend followed by the spot volume of just Bitcoin. From the chart, it’s apparent that initially, the original cryptocurrency followed suit with the rest of the sector, but in February, its volume saw an uplift, including a huge spike that occurred alongside the sharp move down in the asset’s price.

Bitcoin Miners’ AI Shift May Create New Overhang, Lekker Capital CIO Warns

Lekker Capital CIO Quinn Thompson argues on X that collapsing mining economics, combined with a growing shift by public miners toward AI and high-performance compute, could turn corporate $BTC treasuries into a fresh source of market supply.

“A large underappreciated headwind for Bitcoin is the disaster that which is mining economics. The only way this heals is through a decline in hashrate, which is being spearheaded by the AI compute first movers like CORZ, WULF, CIFR, IREN, etc.,” Thompson wrote.

The chart Thompson shared, frames the problem visually. It shows aggregate bitcoin holdings across major listed miners climbing sharply through 2024 and 2025 before rolling over in 2026. Thompson’s argument is not that the AI pivot is bearish in structural terms.

On the contrary, lower hashrate and less uneconomic competition could improve mining industry health over time. His point is that the transition itself is expensive, and that capex-heavy AI buildouts may force miners to liquidate $BTC that had previously been treated as strategic treasury.

“While helpful to long-term health and sustainability of the network economics, it presents a dilemma for prices in the near-term as Bitcoin miners hold almost 80,000 Bitcoin on their balance sheets. As these companies pivot away from $BTC mining, they 1) need capital to fund the AI buildout capex requirements and 2) have no reason to hold any $BTC on their balance sheet (not that they should have before either),” he argued.
