XRP breaks through $1.5 after double-digit weekly growth

$XRP surged past $1.5 on Monday, extending its gains as the crypto market rallied under Bitcoin’s lead. The token has climbed roughly 13% over the past week, driven by renewed investor interest and improving market sentiment, CoinMarketCap data shows.

The digital asset now boasts a market capitalization of $94 billion, surpassing BNB and reclaiming its position as the fourth-largest crypto by market value.

Trading volumes have spiked sharply alongside price movement, rising roughly 109% over the past 24 hours.

Despite these gains, $XRP remains roughly 58% below its all-time high set last July.

The market’s upward momentum extends beyond $XRP, with major crypto assets climbing higher ahead of a key Federal Reserve policy meeting.

The Federal Open Market Committee will meet tomorrow, and market participants are preparing for potential signals about interest rate trajectory and monetary policy.

Bitcoin has led the charge, climbing back above $75,000, while the total market capitalization has rebounded to $2.6 trillion, a 3.5% increase in the past 24 hours.

Other major tokens, including Ethereum, Solana, Dogecoin, and Cardano, have also posted double-digit gains during the same period.

The price surge comes despite persistent institutional outflows of $XRP investment products.

Data from CoinShares shows $XRP-focused funds recorded $76 million in net outflows over the past two weeks, lagging behind major digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, which attracted rising investor inflows.

Trump ups pressure for Fed chair Powell to cut rates ‘right now’

US President Donald Trump has again pressured the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates immediately, saying at a White House meeting that they should have a “special meeting” to reduce rates.

“What’s a better time to cut interest rates than now? A third-grade student would know that,” Trump added, according to videos shared on X.

Trump has reiterated his calls for lower rates after stating on Truth Social on Thursday that the Federal Reserve chair “should be dropping interest rates, IMMEDIATELY.”

The president argued in January that the US should have “substantially lower” rates and “the lowest in the world,” labelling Powell “too late” and claiming he is “hurting our country, and its National Security” by maintaining high interest rate levels.

Trump has advocated for lower rates to reduce the cost of servicing the massive $39 trillion US national debt and stimulate economic growth, housing, and the stock market.

Lower rates can also push investors towards higher-risk assets like stocks and crypto. Cheaper borrowing costs also fuel broader market liquidity, meaning more money flows into speculative assets.

An analyst post on X said lithium demand forecasts through 2040 show an interesting trend, and the post listed expected CAGR by end use, with EVs at 9% and battery energy storage systems at 11%; it said EVs are still expected to remain the largest contributor to total demand.

The forecast showed lithium demand rising through 2040, with EV demand growing at 9% CAGR and battery storage at 11% CAGR, while EVs remained the biggest demand source.

The chart attached to that X post showed EV sales rising steadily into 2040, while storage demand also climbed at a fast pace; the combined lithium demand by end use moved toward roughly 5,500 kilotonnes LCE by 2040, and most of that demand still came from EVs, with storage and other uses adding smaller shares.
