Bitcoin recently broke above the $70,000 range, a move the market initially interpreted as bullish. The breakout occurred on 02 March, marking the first time the asset reclaimed that level since 16 February.

However, the aforementioned momentum proved short-lived.

Bitcoin [BTC] has since slipped back below, with BTC valued at around $68,000 at press time. The pullback is indicative of the presence of conflicting signals across the derivatives market, leaving the broader outlook for Bitcoin somewhat divided.

Options market signals calm conditions
The Options market has been exhibiting a period of relative calm as far as Bitcoin’s price expectations are concerned.

One of the clearest indicators came from the crypto’s implied volatility, with the same suggesting that traders are not preparing for a significant price swing in the near term.

According to Glassnode, implied volatility fell well below the highs seen in February. This decline suggested that traders expect only limited price movement in the short term. Such conditions typically occur when implied volatility sits within the 40–60% range – A zone where Options become relatively inexpensive.

At the same time, the Options skew fell from around 20% to roughly 10%, pointing to a more balanced demand between call and Put Options.

In practical terms, this means that traders might not be strongly positioned for either an upside breakout or a sharp downside move. In most market environments, skew tends to reflect clear defensive hedging or aggressive bullish positioning. At press time, neither dynamic appeared to be dominant.

The calm conditions in the Options market offers little directional guidance for Bitcoin. Particularly as the crypto begins to drift towards the lower end of its recent trading range.

На момент написания статьи ENA находилась на 15% ниже локального максимума в $0,12. Судя по имеющимся данным, более глубокое падение вероятно.

Покупателям Ethena не везет!

Бычья дивергенция с индикатором импульса привела к отскоку цены до 0,12 доллара. В вышеупомянутом отчете указывалось на долгосрочный тренд и кластер ликвидаций на уровне 0,12 доллара как на краткосрочный ценовой магнит.

Recent on-chain conditions indicate that Bitcoin [BTC] has entered a period of structural market stress. Several cycle indicators are now compressing simultaneously as post-peak fragility continues to ripple through the ecosystem.

Within this environment, Entity-Adjusted NUPL has declined towards roughly 0.2, pushing sentiment into the historical fear zone. Previously in the cycle, the metric hovered near 0.6 while Bitcoin traded close to $110,000.

Since then, however, persistent selling pressure has compressed unrealized profits across the network.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at around $68,000–$69,000. At the same time, the price was sitting roughly 20–25% below the estimated average miner production cost of $89,000–$91,000. Needless to say, this leaves a significant portion of the network operating underwater.

As margins tighten, many miners are liquidating reserves to maintain cash flow, while some firms increasingly explore AI data center infrastructure to diversify revenue. This may help them offset losses from mining operations.

Meanwhile, mining conditions have been mirroring this pressure. Network hashrate has fluctuated between 980 and 1,150 EH/s as operators optimize fleets following February’s margin compression and difficulty adjustments. In parallel, hashprice has been suppressed near $30–$32 per PH/s/day, leaving profitability for all but the most efficient miners near breakeven and reinforcing the market’s ongoing stress phase.

A bullish signal amid market stress
Even as sub-cost pricing and miner margin compression continue stressing the network, exchange flow dynamics may be hinting at a structural shift.

Consider this – The Inter-exchange Flow Pulse (IFP) formed a fresh golden cross above its 90-day average, a signal historically aligned with early-cycle accumulation phases.

The crypto market is starting to price in the possibility of a ceasefire.

The Kobeissi Letter highlighted a key signal. U.S President Donald Trump recently posted on Truth Social that the U.S demands “unconditional surrender” from Iran, implying that any ceasefire could be delayed.

Looking at history, a similar statement by the President was followed six days later by an actual ceasefire. Based on this pattern, analysts are now speculating that a ceasefire could occur on 12 March this year.

However, this isn’t just a theory. Market data seemed to support this trend too.

Recently, the crypto market saw significant inflows while oil prices surged sharply. In fact, U.S. oil is on track for its largest weekly gains on record since 1982, climbing by +34.5% this week alone.

From an economic perspective, these rising oil prices add long-term inflationary pressure. Combined with mounting war-related expenses, the resulting fiscal strain could increase the urgency for a ceasefire.

So far, risk assets have acted as a hedge. The bigger question now is – If the ceasefire holds, will crypto lose that hedge status, or could it instead become the catalyst for the “much-needed” market momentum?

This week has been a textbook example of crypto volatility.

After nearly $150 billion flowed into the market during the first half of the week, inflows slowed down dramatically. We’re now set to close with only $50 billion, meaning 67% of the gains were wiped out in the second half.

The bigger story, however, lies in the macro context. Early inflows were largely driven by the Middle East conflict, which prompted investors to move capital into Bitcoin [BTC]. Notably, this reinforced its role as a hedge.
