Historical data suggests $XRP could record steeper declines from here, but reveals when a rally to a new all-time high could ensue.

Despite the latest recovery effort, the broader crypto market remains in a long-term downtrend, with the global crypto market cap down 18.25% this year to $2.4 trillion. Amid the turbulent phase, $XRP has suffered considerable losses, having collapsed 23.8% within the same period, as it changes hands at $1.4.

While market participants anticipate a recovery effort, historical data shows $XRP could still witness greater losses before eventually rebounding. However, further data suggests the rebound could push prices to $8.6 between September and December 2026.

Key Points

$XRP has dropped 23.8% year-to-date despite a recent recovery effort, currently changing hands at the $1.4 level.

With this downward price action, $XRP has been trading inside a descending channel since it dropped from the $3.6 peak in July 2025.

$XRP retested the upper trendline of the channel when it rose to $2.4 in January 2026 and retested the lower channel when it dropped to $1.11 in February 2026.

Amid the ongoing downtrend, historical data suggests steeper declines could be possible for $XRP, possibly leading below the $1 mark to again retest the channel’s lower trendline.

However, after this, the ensuing recovery could result in a breakout above the channel, possibly leading to $8.6 by the end of the year.

Robert Mitchnick, Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management company, made exclusive statements about the company’s new staking-backed Ethereum ETF (ETHB). Mitchnick stated that this new product is a “golden key” for institutional investors.

Mitchnick, highlighting the fundamental differences between Bitcoin and Ethereum, stated that Bitcoin is positioned as “digital gold” and an alternative currency, while Ethereum is a technology-focused investment based on blockchain innovation. He noted that ETHB offers investors the opportunity to share not only in price increases but also in the economic functioning of the network (staking).

Mitchnick, noting that the launch of Bitcoin ETFs (IBITs) has provided a great convenience for investors, said, “An Ethereum ETF with added staking features becomes a clear solution that allows investors to access Ethereum in the easiest and most cost-effective way.”

Mitchnick noted that despite the volatility in the crypto markets, ETF investors have a long-term perspective, pointing out that even when the Bitcoin price fell by nearly 50% from its peak, inflows into IBIT (BlackRock Bitcoin ETF) remained positive. According to 2025 data, IBIT was the only fund among the top 20 most injected ETFs worldwide that appeared on the list despite negative returns.

Mitchnick stated that approximately 90% of ETF investors consist of financial advisors, individual investors, and institutional funds, and that this group tends to accumulate by “buying at the dip.” He added that the remaining 10% are generally hedge funds that arbitrage with futures contracts.

XRP is sitting at $1.38 on the 2h chart, locked inside a symmetrical triangle that has been tightening since early February, with price coiling between converging trendlines and the clock ticking on a resolution.

The first wall price that needs to clear is $1.50, which has been acting as a sticky resistance zone throughout the consolidation, and above that sits $1.61 as the next meaningful hurdle.
A clean break through both opens the path toward $1.90 and the full $2.20 target marked on the chart.

On the downside, $1.30 is the immediate support that has been tested multiple times inside this structure and held, but a breakdown below that level shifts the focus to the $1.12 floor.
