Data surrounding the Gaussian Channel indicator and major moving averages on the two-week timeframe shows XRP could witness a short-term relief before a deeper drop, with the cycle low possibly coming in between $0.7 and $0.8, after which a major expansion phase could follow.
Key Points

While XRP has dropped 22% this year amid a broader market downturn, market data shows further declines could still play out.

The price currently sits near $1.37, with the lower end of the two-week Gaussian Channel resting at $0.9, pointing to further potential downside ahead.

XRP has only triggered six Gaussian Channel trend flips across its history, and every single one eventually led to the price reaching the lower end of the channel before any real expansion began.

A short-term relief rally toward the 20 EMA at $2.00 and the 50 EMA at $1.80 could play out in the coming weeks, but this move could be a temporary rebound.

If XRP fails to break and hold above $2.4, the deeper correction toward $0.7 to $0.8 remains the most likely outcome through the summer months.

Circle's USDC overtakes USDT in ‘adjusted’ volume year-to-date, Mizuho says
“Data shows USDC vs. USDT volumes at 64% market share. This is reversal in a long-term trend of USDT volumes surpassing USDC in 2019-2025,” Mizuho said.

Mizuho analysts on Friday said that adjusted volume for Circle's USDC stablecoin has, year-to-date, surpassed that of Tether's USDT, the world's largest USD-pegged token by market supply.

"The data shows USDC vs. USDT volumes at 64% market share. This is a reversal in a long-term trend of USDT volumes surpassing USDC in 2019-2025," Mizuho said in a research note.

Mizuho's analysts qualified "adjusted volume" as a measurement of activity across "addresses that are labeled as entities related to CEXs (Centralized Exchanges), DEXs (Decentralized), or others, or those that have not transacted > 1K transactions or 10M volume in any 30-day period."

Or, as they further contextualized, they are measuring "transfers that look like a real person or institution actually moving money." This could include companies paying suppliers, users betting on Polymarket, or funds moving between a CEX and a DeFi protocol, the analysts said.
In terms of total supply, Tether's USDT is still the clear leader globally. USDT's total market cap is $184 billion, while USDC comes in at about $79 billion, according to The Block Data Dashboard.

Mizuho's analysts said USDC is the more popular option when it comes to everyday, real-world applications, as Circle's (CRCL) stablecoin is used more for payments.

"We believe that longer term, the stablecoin winner will be the one mostly used in everyday economic activity, rather than just the highest market cap. Looking at transaction volumes, we are encouraged to see USDC taking more share of the total pie," the analysts said.

Despite clear warnings that showed the user they would lose nearly all of the value of their transaction, and despite needing to explicitly opt into the trade after seeing the warning, the user chose to proceed with their swap.

It is important to point out that CoW Protocol is a DEX aggregator that routes transactions through nearly every major public and private liquidity source. No DEX, DEX aggregator, public liquidity pool, or private liquidity pool (or combination thereof) would have been able to fill this trade at anywhere near a reasonable price.

Preventing users from making trades removes choice and can lead to terrible outcomes in some situations (e.g. a market crash). That said, trades like these show that DeFi UX still isn’t where it needs to be to protect all users. As a team, we are now reviewing how we balance strong safeguards with preserving user autonomy.

SocksEscort was the infrastructure layer cybercriminals used to stay invisible. Account takeovers, ransomware attacks, crypto fraud. All of it ran through this network to mask where the attacks were actually coming from.

It took over a decade. But the operation is done.

What the DOJ-Europol Takedown Actually Targeted

The network had hijacked 369,000 devices across 163 countries. Routers, IoT devices, residential IPs. All were infected with AVRecon malware and rented out to criminals who needed clean addresses to bypass fraud detection at banks and crypto exchanges.

20,000 new devices are infected every week since early 2024. Total revenue is estimated at $5.8 million over the life of the operation. One victim in New York lost roughly $1 million in crypto alone after their account was hit through a SocksEscort proxy.8 countries were involved in Operation Lightning. France, Germany, and the Netherlands, among them. The coordination was deliberate. Authorities are no longer just chasing individual criminals. They are targeting the infrastructure that makes crypto crime possible in the first place.

Europol's executive director put it plainly. Proxy services like SocksEscort are the anonymity shield that lets illicit funds move across borders undetected. Remove the shield, and the whole operation falls apart.
