On January 6th of this year, Polymarket officially bid farewell to its "zero-fee" model, starting a trial of transaction fees for its "15-minute cryptocurrency price fluctuation" market. The specific fee percentage will change according to the real-time market odds—the closer the odds are to 0% or 100%, the lower the fee; conversely, the closer the odds are to 50%, the higher the fee, reaching a maximum of 1.56%.

Later, on January 28th, about three weeks after the fee was implemented, we published an article titled "Data Calculations Make Polymarket's Annual Revenue Exceeding 100 Million Not Difficult, Under the Premise of...".  The article uses static estimates based on Polymarket's trading volume and activity structure at the time: In the most conservative scenario, assuming the scope of fee-charging markets remains unchanged, Polymarket is estimated to generate approximately $38 million in annual revenue; in the most aggressive scenario, if Polymarket expands its fees to all markets, it is estimated to generate $418 million in fee revenue annually.

In our previous revenue estimate for Polymarket, we struggled with the short observation period and insufficient sample size. However, nearly two months later, we have re-estimated Polymarket's revenue projections using richer data, and the results show that the so-called "conservative" estimate was indeed overly conservative, while the so-called "aggressive" estimate is not excessively exaggerated.

Revenue Data Changes

According to data compiled by Gate Research on Dune, since Polymarket began charging transaction fees on January 6th, it has accumulated over $11.2 million in fee revenue.

AI data center gold rush sparks debate over impact on Bitcoin

There’s a new debate over whether a continued pivot from Bitcoin miners to artificial intelligence could have an impact on Bitcoin security and its role as a store of value.

While some argue that miners fleeing the network would leave it more susceptible to a “51% attack,” others argue it will simply trigger the Bitcoin network to rebalance itself as designed, making it enticing for miners again.

“AI has killed Bitcoin forever,” said crypto trader Ran Neuner on Sunday, arguing that it has become Bitcoin mining’s biggest competitor because both industries compete for electricity.

“AI is willing to pay much more for it,” he added, explaining that Bitcoin ($BTC) mining revenue per megawatt is around $57 to $129, but AI data center revenue per megawatt is up to eight times higher at $200 to $500 for the same electricity, which is why miners are starting to pivot.

Earlier this month, Core Scientific secured up to $1 billion in credit for AI hosting, MARA Holdings recently filed with the SEC to signal its intent to sell some of its $BTC in an AI pivot and Hut 8 signed a $7 billion AI infrastructure agreement with Google in December, argued Neuner.

Meanwhile, Cipher Mining cut its hashrate to focus on AI compute, and Bitmain cofounder Jihan Wu has stopped mining and pivoted to AI, he added.

“So if I were a miner, it wouldn’t be a tough decision. And that’s why every day more and more miners are leaving the network.”

It sounds like a doomsday scenario for Bitcoin, but not everyone agrees.

Bitcoin pioneer and cryptographer Adam Back argued that difficulty adjustments would only force the least efficient miners out, and profitability would improve.

Cardano Creator Charles Hoskinson Makes Ethereum Foundation an Offer Years After "Divorce

Twelve years after the "divorce" of the Ethereum cofounders, Charles Hoskinson appears to have once again challenged Vitalik Buterin. The trigger was the publication of the Ethereum Foundation Mandate, a document that could become the beginning of a constitution for the largest altcoin in the market at the moment.

Hoskinson, however, is convinced that Ethereum is only trying to catch up with Cardano (ADA). He even offered competitors the help of his main ally, the University of Buenos Aires.

Why Cardano claims lead in on-chain governance

In the document published on March 13, 2026, the Ethereum Foundation outlined three key pillars of its work: subsidiarity, protection of values and temporality. The latter means that over time the role of the Ethereum Foundation should dissolve and the ecosystem is expected to become fully autonomous.

For the creator of Cardano, this mandate looks more like a repetition of what was already implemented in Argentina. Back in December 2024, a global convention was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires, which effectively became the constitution of Cardano.

If one compares the mandate with the constitution, the fundamental difference between these documents is that the control mechanism in the Ethereum Foundation Mandate is based on moral authority and potential loss of trust from developers. In Cardano, it is an entire constitutional committee that has veto power over upgrades that, in its view, may violate the law.

Erik Voorhees has returned to the Ethereum market, as on-chain data shows wallets linked to him have purchased tens of thousands of Ethereum worth over $50 million in two separate wallets.

The on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain reported on March 16 that Voorhees, who is a founder of ShapeShift, bought Ethereum after a year break, spent nearly 49.08 million USDT to purchase 23,393 ETH at an average price of $2,098.

Before this, on March 15, the report mentioned that Voorhees had sold around 12,886 ETH, which was worth about $42.83 million at that time; the ETH price was $3,324.

When combining both wallets, Voheers collectively bought 24,968 ETH, worth about $56.16 million. With that, the wallet 0x3e68A... holds around 4.442 million USDT and 8.64 million AETHUSDT (Aave Ethereum USDT), as per Arkham reports. As Voorhees’ accumulation after a gap may be part of a greater wave of institutional investors showing long-term conviction in the cryptocurrency.

Apart from Ethereum, Voheers created 28 new wallets, where he has been heavily investing in gold assets since Jan 31. As per the report, Voheers has spent $23.76M to purchase 2,834 Tether Gold (XAUT) and 2,019 PAX Gold (PAXG).

Aside from Erik Voorhees, Lookonchain also reported on the same day that Billy Luedtke, an early Ethereum user and CEO of Intuition Protocol, purchased 7,769 ETH at an average price of $2,248, so in total, Luedtke spent around $17.26 million.
