The measure could impact event-trading platforms and prediction markets, where users speculate on real-world outcomes. The legislation would require regulated exchanges to avoid listing or clearing such contracts, giving regulators clearer authority to block them. The legislation, introduced by Adam Schiff, is titled the Discouraging Exploitative Assassination, Tragedy, and Harm Betting in Event Trading Systems Act, or the "DEATH BETS Act." The proposal would amend the Commodity Exchange Act to prohibit exchanges from listing or clearing event contracts that reference terrorism, assassination, war or similar violent activities. Under the bill, trading venues registered with the U.S. CFTC would also be barred from offering contracts that relate to an individual's death or events that could be closely correlated with a person's death. Futures positioning delivered a similar message. Laevitas market analytics showed the annualized premium for two month Bitcoin futures remained below the neutral four percent threshold. The metric measures whether traders pay extra to hold leveraged long exposure.

Even after a four-day rally produced a 16 percent move earlier this month, the basis rate barely reacted. The muted response suggested professional traders avoided aggressive bullish bets.

CryptoQuant contributor BorisD also monitored rising leverage across derivatives exchanges. His analysis noted that thirty day open interest growth recently entered a recovery phase. That shift indicated that new positions were gradually returning to the market.

Increasing leverage often leads to sharp directional moves. Rapid liquidations can amplify volatility once price breaks from a consolidation range.

As per Santiment's analysis, certain tokens of the crypto ecosystem are seeing a surge in online discussions and trending conversations.

Bitcoin gains social traction

Bitcoin [BTC] tops the list, which is due to the mining of the 20 millionth BTC on the 9th of March. This milestone signaled the start of Bitcoin's final mining phase, with roughly 95% of the total supply already in circulation.

At the same time, institutional accumulation, with firms such as Strategy increasing their holdings to around 738,731 BTC, is another factor driving the social media surge.

However, on-chain data reveals a divergence. While Weighted Sentiment around Bitcoin has remained slightly positive and stable, 30-day Active Addresses have fallen to around 11.6 million at press time, one of the lowest levels recently.

This suggests that despite the optimistic narrative and strong institutional buying, actual network participation has weakened.

Ethereum is not trailing behind

Ethereum [ETH] is drawing attention as a disconnect between growing network concerns and increasing institutional interest develops. ETH has been accumulated by companies such as Bitmine, but spot Ethereum ETFs are experiencing withdrawals.
