This is the first time in history a $10 trillion asset manager is plugging institutional capital directly into a proof-of-stake network and earning rewards from it.

Why this is bullish for Ethereum:

Every dollar flowing into $ETHB removes ETH from circulation and locks it into staking. Less supply. Same or growing demand. Price goes up by basic math.

A 3% annual yield makes ETH compete directly with treasury bonds for institutional allocation. Pension funds and endowments that could never justify holding a zero-yield asset can now justify $ETHB.

BlackRock priced the fee at 0.12% for the first year to capture market share before anyone else launches a rival product. They are building a moat while competitors are still filing paperwork.

Fidelity and Invesco will follow. That is guaranteed. But BlackRock moved first. Again..

Perpetual Bitcoin contracts recorded an annualized funding rate of -7% on Thursday, a reading that signals short sellers are paying to keep their positions open. When bears absorb that cost, markets interpret it as growing conviction that the price will fall.

Even so, the metric does not operate in isolation: sustained institutional inflows act as a counterweight and reduce the probability of a sharp correction toward $66,000, the technical level several analysts identify as a likely destination if selling pressure intensifies.


The weakness in Bitcoin futures stands in contrast to the behavior of other risk assets. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 traded just 6% below its all-time high on the same session. The Russell 2000, which groups small-capitalization US companies, sat only 9% from its own record. That behavioral gap makes it difficult to justify bitcoin’s sluggishness purely through deteriorating macro conditions or fears of logistical disruptions in the Middle East.

The geopolitical backdrop adds another layer of pressure. President Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to “finish the job” in Iran — a posture that deepens the US government’s fiscal deterioration and complicates labor market prospects. Jobless data released Thursday showed 1.85 million continuing claims for the week ending February 28, slightly above market consensus.

There’s a lot of FUD on the timeline about @MicroStrategy going bankrupt if $BTC crashes.

But the numbers tell a different story.

MSTR holds 717k BTC ($48B)
Total debt: ~$8.2B

That’s roughly 6x coverage.

Most of their debt is long-term convertible notes, not margin loans.

Meaning there’s no liquidation price.

The earliest major maturities don’t even start until 2027–2028.

They also have ~$2.3B cash on the balance sheet.

So the idea that MicroStrategy gets liquidated because BTC drops is mostly CT FUD.

Even Saylor said it directly:

“If Bitcoin went to $1, we wouldn’t get liquidated.
We’d just buy more Bitcoin.”

Love him or hate him - the structure of the balance sheet is actually pretty resilient.

The real debate isn’t bankruptcy.

It’s whether @saylor strategy wins the long game.

Metaplanet is widening its Bitcoin strategy beyond treasury accumulation, setting up two wholly owned subsidiaries aimed at building out the financial rails it believes Japan will need as institutional adoption of BTC deepens. The move pairs a domestic infrastructure push with a new cross-border capital markets platform, giving the Tokyo-listed company a broader claim on what it sees as Bitcoin’s next growth market.

Metaplanet Deepens Bitcoin Play
In a post on X early Thursday, CEO Simon Gerovich said the company’s board had approved the creation of Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management. The first will focus on Japan’s domestic ecosystem. The second, based in Miami, is designed as a digital credit and Bitcoin capital markets business linking Asian and Western markets across “yield, equity, credit, and volatility strategies.”

The more immediate signal came from Metaplanet Ventures. Gerovich said the subsidiary will invest ¥4 billion over the next few years into firms building Bitcoin financial infrastructure in Japan, spanning “lending, payments, custody,stablecoins, derivatives, compliance.” He added that the company is also launching an incubator for early-stage founders and a grants program for open-source developers, educators and researchers.

Gerovich framed the bet as a wager that regulation is no longer Japan’s bottleneck. “Japan has built the best regulatory framework in the world for digital assets. Now it needs the companies, the builders, and the infrastructure to match. We want to help make that happen,” he wrote. That positioning matters. Rather than pitching the market as one still waiting for legal clarity, Metaplanet is arguing that the rules are already in place and the missing piece is execution at scale.

Regardless of the path #BTC takes, it should intersect with this dotted line. If the dotted line is touched in 2024, it should mark a new all-time high (70K+). However, we've never witnessed a new ATH without a retest of the previous peak. Combining these two arguments, we arrive at a potential $60K+ value by December 2023.
