US spot Bitcoin ETFs (exchange-traded funds) saw their first five-day streak of net inflows in 2026. This positive performance is encouraging after a volatile start to the year for Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market as a whole.

While the top cryptocurrency appears to be struggling with price action, demand conditions—particularly in the US—seem to be steadily improving. According to the latest market data, Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $767.32 million in net inflows over the past week.

US Bitcoin ETFs recorded $767 million in inflows last week

On Friday, March 13, US Bitcoin ETFs recorded a total net inflow of $180.33 million. This latest inflow marks the fifth consecutive day of inflows since the beginning of the week, and is the longest streak so far this year.

Latest market data shows that BlackRock's Bitcoin Trust (ticker symbol IBIT) contributed the majority of Friday's total net inflows (approximately $143.59 million). This was followed by Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), which contributed $23.24 million on the day.

 The VanEck Bitcoin ETF (HODL), Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), and Ark 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) (adding $8.05 million, $3.09 million, and $2.36 million respectively) were the only other Bitcoin ETFs with activity on Friday. Interestingly, Friday's performance was only slightly less than the total net inflow of $250.92 million on Tuesday, March 10th.

As mentioned earlier, these daily performances bring the weekly record for exchange-traded funds to approximately $767.32 million in net inflows. This week's performance marks the third consecutive week of positive inflows for US Bitcoin ETFs.

The cloud wars are incredibly expensive. This is Google's largest acquisition ever.

Last week, Google officially completed its acquisition of cloud security company Wiz for $32 billion. This surpasses Google's previous record of $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility in 2012 and becomes the largest exit in Israeli high-tech history.


A Deal That Doesn't Seem Like a Good Deal

From any traditional financial model, this deal seems outrageous.

Wiz was founded in 2020. Initially just a typical cybersecurity startup, it quickly shifted its focus within a year, concentrating on providing cloud security platforms for large enterprises. At the time of the acquisition, its annual revenue was approximately $700 million. But Google paid $32 billion for it.

That means the price-to-sales ratio (P/S) of this deal exceeds 45. In comparison, established and publicly traded security companies, such as CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks, typically have P/S ratios of only 15 to 25.  Google paid nearly double the initial investment for this.

Independent analyst Frank Wang calculated that even if Wiz grows into a security company the size of CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks in the next few years, its combined revenue would only be between $10 billion and $12 billion.

From a purely financial perspective, this seems like an extremely unprofitable deal.

In most people's eyes, there seems to be an insurmountable chasm between the crypto industry and the US regulatory system.

On one side are tech pioneers constantly pushing boundaries, believing that code can rewrite financial rules and repeatedly testing the limits of the system; on the other side are regulators shouldering the responsibility of maintaining order and stability, using caution and rules as their shield to protect the bottom line of the financial system.

Over the past decade, these two forces have sometimes clashed fiercely, sometimes made brief compromises, always moving forward in a delicate tension.

But there are also some people who happen to stand on this boundary line, such as Mark Wetjen.

He worked in the US financial regulatory system for nearly twenty years: from a policy advisor to the US Senate Banking Committee to being nominated by President Obama to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and in 2014 even serving as acting chairman.  Back then, Wall Street was largely hesitant or even skeptical about Bitcoin, while he had already spearheaded and facilitated the first formal hearing on digital assets in US regulatory history within the CFTC. Looking back now, that openness and foresight towards emerging technologies must have seemed exceptionally precious and lonely at the time.

More than a decade later, this policymaker who once sat in the regulatory seat has chosen to step into the crypto world.
