The report highlights the behavior of the Bitcoin Regime Score, an aggregated metric that incorporates several market variables, including taker imbalance, open interest pressure, funding rates, ETF flows, exchange flows, and price trend. The score is normalized on a scale ranging from -100 to +100 to identify shifts in market regimes.

On February 7, the Regime Score dropped to -47, marking the deepest bearish reading recorded over the past year. For comparison, the market bottom in November 2025 reached -37 and required 33 days to recover to neutral territory, while the August low of -35 reversed in only 11 days.

In the current cycle, however, the recovery has occurred in approximately 25 days. As of March 4, the indicator has climbed back to around +0.98, signaling a potential transition away from the recent bearish regime.

has lost 3.7% in the past 24 hours, holding just above $70,000, while the wider CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index dropped 3.5% as momentum from the rally earlier in the week cools. Bitcoin cleared $74,000 on Wednesday and is still up more than 6% over five days.

Illia Otychenko, lead analyst at CEX.IO, said the decline reflects selling pressure from short-term traders who bought the recovery. "Despite the recent recovery, there is still limited conviction that the rally will continue," Otychenko told CoinDesk.

Meanwhile, derivatives markets show growing pessimism. Funding rates remain deeply negative, meaning traders are paying to hold onto short positions.

Second, economic activity in the United States remains relatively strong. Employment conditions remain stable, consumer demand continues to support business activity, and overall economic output still shows growth. In such conditions, policymakers may not see urgency to stimulate the economy.
