Crypto market slides as Bitcoin falls to $68K and Ethereum drops below $2K

Bitcoin slipped toward $68K while Ethereum dropped below $2K, triggering broader losses across the crypto market as key resistance levels held.

The cryptocurrency market turned lower on Friday as declines in Bitcoin and Ethereum dragged the broader sector into the red, with both assets struggling to hold key psychological levels.

According to data from CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin traded around $68,084 at press time after falling 4.03% in the past 24 hours, while Ethereum dropped 4.48% to $1,983. 

The declines weighed on the wider market, with most major cryptocurrencies posting losses during the same period.

Among other large-cap assets, BNB fell 2.98%, XRP declined 3.63%, and Solana slipped 4.08%, highlighting the broad nature of the market downturn

Indiana Gov. Mike Braun has signed legislation allowing bitcoin and cryptocurrency investments in the state’s public retirement and savings plans, opening the door for state employees to gain exposure to digital assets through self-directed accounts.

The measure, House Bill 1042, requires Indiana’s public retirement boards, deferred compensation committees, and annuity savings programs to offer self-directed brokerage accounts that include at least one cryptocurrency investment option by July 1, 2027.

CleanSpark, Cango and BitFuFu produce 1,250 BTC in February as AI infrastructure ambitions grow
CleanSpark produced the most bitcoin among the three miners in February, while Cango and BitFuFu combined added more than 680 BTC.

Across the industry, miners are increasingly leveraging their power capacity and data-center infrastructure to pursue AI and high-performance computing workloads.
Public bitcoin miners continued turning out hundreds of coins in February, even as many look to partially or fully pivot into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing as the next phase of growth.

Operational updates released this week by CleanSpark, Cango, and BitFuFu show the three companies collectively produced nearly 1,250 bitcoins during February, worth roughly $86 million at current bitcoin prices.

CleanSpark reported the largest output among the group, producing 568 BTC in February. The company operated at 50 EH/s of peak hashrate and ended the month with 13,363 bitcoins on its balance sheet, according to its latest operational update.

The miner sold 553 BTC from its monthly production for roughly $36.7 million, at an average price of $66,279 per coin. CleanSpark also expanded its infrastructure footprint, closing on a second Texas campus that adds 300 megawatts of ERCOT-approved capacity to its contracted power portfolio.

Even after the sale, CleanSpark remains among the top 10 corporate bitcoin holders, slightly ahead of Vivek Ramaswamy’s Strive.

Meanwhile, Cango reported producing 454.83 BTC during February while operating 50 EH/s of deployed hashrate. The company held 3,313 bitcoin at month-end.
Cango said it is optimizing its mining operations by renegotiating hosting agreements, upgrading equipment, and relocating machines to lower-cost power regions as it works toward a broader......
