Ethereum (ETH) founder Vitali Buterin reveals details of his SHIB donation! His $500 million profit is astonishing!

Ethereum ($ETH) founder Vitali Buterin, who gained attention for donating altcoins sent to him as gifts, recently spoke about the $SHIB tokens he donated.

Accordingly, Vitalik Buterin shared a tweet about the donations he has made over the past five years. These donations include numerous popular memecoins, including $SHIB.

In 2021, Buterin shared details of a donation, stating that he had donated the SHIBs that the mysterious Shiba Inu founder, Ryoshi, had sent him.

Buterin stated that in 2021 he donated some of these SHIBs to an organization called the Future of Life Institute (FLI), but added that he no longer shares the same views as that organization.

In a statement from his X account, Buterin said that his $500 million donation to FLI in 2021 was used for political advocacy, deviating from the initially proposed technical roadmap.

“In 2021, I bought a large amount of $SHIB and other Dogecoins because the creators used the phrase “we own half of our Vitalik supply” as a marketing tactic and wanted to be “the next Dogecoin.”

I felt that this was definitely a bubble, that it would burst quickly and the price would drop drastically, so I sold as much as I could in $ETH and donated it. I sent half to Crypto Relief and the other half to FLI.

Buterin stated that he had initially thought his $SHIB donation to FLI would generate a profit of around $10-25 million, but they had managed to achieve a profit of approximately $500 million.

Yield-bearing stablecoins are growing faster than the broader stablecoin market, according to Messari, as Washington remains divided over how crypto-linked yield should be treated under US law.

Yield-bearing stablecoins have outpaced the growth of the broader stablecoin market 15-fold over the past six months, according to a Messari research report published on Thursday.

The increase was driven by a 198% rise in the market cap of Circle’s USYC (USYC), a 169% increase in Paxos’ Global Dollar (USDG), a 114% rise in the value of the Tron DAO-linked Decentralized USD (USDD), and a 91% rise in Ondo Finance’s Ondo US Dollar Yield (USDY). The overall stablecoin market capitalization rose 9%.

Messari said the largest yield-bearing stablecoins are starting to function more akin to money market funds or bank deposits. “The winners don’t do payments,” Messari said, adding that the largest issuers focus their offer on a single asset, rather than payment-related use cases.

Yield-bearing stablecoins started outpacing the growth of the stablecoin supply in mid October 2025, Messari said. The trend suggests rising demand for blockchain-based US dollar products that offer yield without direct exposure to broader crypto volatility.

Yield stablecoins are currently worth a cumulative $22.7 billion, after their market capitalization rose 11% over the past 30 days, according to Stablewatch data.

MetaComp, a digital finance infrastructure provider, said it has raised a total of $35 million across two Pre-A funding rounds completed within three months.

The company announced Friday that the latest financing round was backed by Alibaba, Spark Venture, and existing shareholders, with 100Summit Partners serving as financial adviser. 

MetaComp operates a so-called "Web2.5" platform that bridges traditional fiat payment rails with stablecoin settlement infrastructure. In 2025, it processed over $10 billion in payments and over-the-counter volume across more than 13 stablecoins, according to its statement.

The company plans to use the proceeds from the latest funding to expand its StableX Network, which facilitates real-time cross-border settlements using both stablecoins and traditional currencies. It intends to focus on high-growth regional hubs across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

MetaComp also intends to invest in AI capabilities to support an "agentic Web2.5" architecture that powers automated payment and wealth management services.

"Traditional payment systems remain constrained by multi-day settlement cycles, high costs, and limited currency coverage, and that gap is exactly what we were founded to solve," Tin Pei Ling, co-president of MetaComp, said in the statement.
