I. Geopolitics and the Oil Market

The situation in the Middle East (Israel, Iran, and the Strait of Hormuz) remains the core macroeconomic variable. After significant fluctuations, oil prices have stabilized around $100. The mainstream market expectation is that the current conflict is likely to ease temporarily within 2-6 weeks, and a ceasefire agreement is highly probable. With the VIX (Volatility Index) declining, market risk appetite is gradually recovering.

II. Economic Data and Concerns of Stagflation

The US GDP growth rate slowed more than expected to 0.7% last quarter, mainly dragged down by weak exports, real estate investment, and personal consumption expenditure (PCE). Coupled with recent weak retail data, the signal of cooling economic momentum is clear.

Although rising oil prices and economic slowdown have raised concerns about stagflation, considering that the US has become a net oil exporter and that long-term inflation expectations are stable at around 3%, the probability of substantial stagflation remains low.

 III. Federal Reserve and Interest Rate Expectations

Recent CPI data largely met market expectations, but short-term interest rate cuts have been largely ruled out. Market focus has shifted to the policy path revealed by the FOMC dot plot: CME interest rate futures show a significant narrowing of expectations for interest rate cuts in 2025, with current mainstream pricing indicating only a December rate cut, significantly lower than previous easing expectations.

Hoskinson also criticized the process behind the bill. He said that the leadership of figures like David Sacks was inadequate, that 137 changes were made, and that institutions like NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) were not involved. He claimed that the bill ignored global harmonization and would make the US the worst country in the crypto space.

Hoskinson criticized the Trump administration, stating that its promises regarding cryptocurrency had not been fulfilled. He characterized the failure to release the Epstein files and the military operations against Iran as being built on lies. “Trump said he would be crypto-friendly, but the Clarity Act continues Biden’s policies,” he said.
