Three institutional-grade validator firms — Figment, Galaxy Digital, and Attestant — will run the Ethereum network nodes that power BlackRock’s newest crypto product, the iShares Staked Ethereum Trust.

The fund launched Thursday on Nasdaq under the ticker ETHB, giving everyday investors a regulated way to hold Ether and collect staking rewards without managing a crypto wallet.

A First Day On The Books
Trading volume on the debut came in at roughly $15.5 million, based on Nasdaq data showing just under 593,000 shares changed hands.

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart called it “very, very solid” for a first-day product launch. That said, ETHB fell short of two comparable Solana staking funds that hit the market in the past year — the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF pulled in $55.4 million when it debuted in October, while the REX-Osprey SOL + Staking ETF recorded $33.7 million on its first day of trading.

BlackRock entered Thursday’s session with $106.7 million already in the fund. Coinbase holds custody of the assets. The structure is split roughly 80% staked Ether and 20% unstaked Ether, according to the firm’s product page. Staking rewards will be paid out once a month.

The fund targets an annualized yield of around 4%, generated by locking up ETH tokens on the Ethereum blockchain through validators. Those validators — Figment, Galaxy Digital, and Bitwise-owned Attestant — process transactions on the network and earn rewards in return, which are then passed to fund shareholders.

Cryptocurrency analytics company MakroVision has shared a new assessment of Ethereum’s ($ETH) technical outlook. According to the analysis, the short-term market structure is becoming increasingly tight as the Ethereum price approaches a critical resistance zone again.

According to the chart shared by MakroVision, the $ETH price has recently been rejected several times in the resistance zone around $2,130 and continues to face selling pressure at this level. However, the Ethereum price remains above the lower support zone. This indicates that the market is currently moving within a narrowing price range between support and resistance.

Analysts note that a pattern of rising lows is forming on the Ethereum chart in the short term. While the price finds support at higher levels with each pullback, the repeated testing of the same resistance zone indicates increasingly tight volatility. Such market conditions are typically observed before a strong breakout.

According to MacroVision, as long as the rising bottom structure remains intact, the probability of Ethereum breaking above the $2,130 resistance level increases. A clear break above this level could trigger a stronger recovery in the $ETH price, paving the way for a rise towards the next resistance zones.

On the other hand, analysts warn that if the price is rejected from this region once again and the rising trend structure is broken to the downside, the short-term outlook may weaken again. In this scenario, it is stated that downward pressure on Ethereum may increase.

New Research Says Quantum Risk to Bitcoin Is Real but Not Immediate

A new research report by Ark Invest and bitcoin-focused financial services company Unchained, examining the intersection of quantum computing and bitcoin security, concluded that while quantum technology could eventually challenge the network’s cryptography, the threat remains far from imminent.

According to the study, current quantum systems operate in what researchers call the “Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum” (NISQ) era, where machines typically run with fewer than 100 logical qubits and limited computational depth. Breaking bitcoin’s elliptic curve cryptography would require at least 2,330 logical qubits and millions to billions of quantum operations, far beyond today’s capabilities.

Instead of a sudden “Q-day” where bitcoin security collapses, researchers argue that quantum progress will likely unfold through a series of gradual technological milestones. These stages range from early scientific applications, such as materials simulation and chemistry, to the eventual ability to attack weak cryptographic systems.

Only in later stages could quantum computers begin to threaten bitcoin’s elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA), which secures private keys and transactions.

Even then, attacks would likely be slow and costly, requiring significant computational resources. The report estimates that electricity costs alone could reach around $100,000 to break a single bitcoin key in early quantum attack scenarios.
