BlackRock’s staked Ethereum ETF saw over $15.5 million in trading volume on its debut.

Bloomberg Analyst James Seyffart said the ETF had a “very solid” first day.
BlackRock's iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB) posted over $15.5 million in trading volume on its first day of trading, according to Bloomberg ETF Analyst James Seyffart.

"Vast majority of the trading is done and we are at $15.5 million in trading volume," Seyffart wrote on social media platform X, adding that it is "very solid for a day 1 ETF launch." Seyffart noted earlier that ETHB launched with over $100 million in assets.

ETHB is BlackRock's first crypto ETF that incorporates staking. The world's largest asset manager first hinted at its plans to launch staked crypto funds in 2025. Its amended S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission showed that the firm started acquiring ether in February for the launch of ETHB.

The fund stakes 70% to 95% of its ether holdings under normal market conditions, while the remaining 5% to 30% is held unstaked for creations, redemptions, and operational liquidity. Approximately 82% of staking rewards will be distributed monthly to holders, with 18% allocated to the sponsor and the execution agent.

ETHB carries a sponsor fee of 0.25% annually, temporarily reduced to 0.12% on the first $2.5 billion in assets for the first year following launch. 

Meanwhile, spot bitcoin and ether ETFs in the U.S. saw another day of net inflows on Thursday. Bitcoin ETFs reported $53.8 million in net inflows, marking their fourth consecutive day of positive flows. Ether ETFs posted $72.4 million in inflows. Spot Solana ETFs also recorded $4 million worth of inflows on Thursday.

Strategy (MSTR) Bought Over 4,000 Bitcoin Today via STRC As Strong Week Continues
Strategy appears to have purchased more than 4,000 bitcoin on Thursday, according to estimates derived from real-time trading data and community tracking dashboards monitoring the firm’s preferred equity sales.

Data from STRC.live and market trackers suggests the purchases were funded through heavy issuance of the company’s Variable Rate Series A Preferred Stock (STRC), a perpetual preferred instrument that Strategy has increasingly used to raise capital for bitcoin accumulation.

By end of day in New York, trading activity implied the firm had already raised enough capital to acquire more than 4,000 BTC, marking the largest single-day bitcoin purchase funded through STRC since the instrument launched.

The surge follows unusually strong activity earlier in the week. On March 10, STRC recorded a record $409 million in daily trading volume while maintaining roughly 3% 30-day volatility and a one-month volume-weighted average price near $99.78.

On-chain indicators and community monitoring suggested that day’s activity funded the purchase of more than 2,000 BTC, already one of the largest one-day accumulations tied to the instrument.
Thursday’s pace easily surpassed that figure.

Strategy, already the largest public corporate holder of bitcoin, has increasingly leaned on its preferred equity program to finance additional acquisitions.

Earlier this year the company amended its at-the-market (ATM) program, allowing multiple agents to sell STRC shares simultaneously. The change increased liquidity in the instrument and made it easier for Strategy to raise large amounts of capital quickly, with proceeds directed toward bitcoin purchases.

In an interview with BeInCrypto, Lee explained that while quantum computing could, in theory, crack current encryption methods, the technology hasn’t yet reached that level in practice. Still, he emphasized that the threat extends far beyond cryptocurrency, potentially undermining the security infrastructure of global finance, communications, and more.

For crypto specifically, the stakes are high. If quantum computers were to break wallet encryption, anyone could access and spend someone else’s funds, effectively destroying the foundation of the entire crypto ecosystem. However, not all wallets face the same risk.

The U.S. Treasury sanctioned six individuals and two companies for helping North Korea convert about $800 million into cryptocurrency in 2024 to launder funds for its weapons programs.

Officials said IT workers used fake documents and stolen identities to secure jobs, funneling most of their earnings back to Pyongyang and sometimes inserting malware to steal sensitive data.

The sanctioned network allegedly used a range of crypto tools, including exchanges, wallets, DeFi services and cross-chain bridges, and was linked to 21 wallet addresses across major blockchains such as Ethereum, Tron and Bitcoin.
