BlackRock's new ether ETF for yield hungry investors debuts with $15 million in trading volume BlackRock's new staked ether ($ETH) exchange-traded fund got off to a solid start Friday, pulling in more than $15 million in trading volume on its first day as Wall Street begins experimenting with yield-generating crypto ETFs.

The iShares Staked Ethereum Trust, trading under the ticker ETHB, launched with just over $100 million in assets and had already seen about $11 million in trading by early afternoon, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart. By late session, trading volume had climbed to roughly $15.5 million, suggesting strong initial demand for the product.

Those numbers are considered strong for an ETF launch, market watchers say.

"BlackRock's Staked Ether ETF launched with just over $100 million in assets and has traded about $11.1 million through early afternoon," Seyffart said on X, calling it "a pretty good start for any ETF."

The product marks a significant evolution in crypto exchange-traded funds. Unlike traditional spot crypto ETFs that simply track the underlying asset, ETHB will generate yield by staking ethereum, distributing most of the rewards back to investors. Staking refers to locking coins in a cryptocurrency network in return for rewards. This is losely analogous to investing in fixed income instruments like bonds.

U.S. freezes crypto network that fed nearly $800 million to North Korea’s weapons programs

The U.S. Treasury has sanctioned eight people and organizations tied to a North Korean scheme that brought in close to $800 million last year, much of it moved through cryptocurrency, by tricking American companies into hiring fake tech workers. The money went straight toward building nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, known as OFAC, announced on March 12, 2026, that it had blacklisted six individuals and two entities for their part in a fraud network run by North Korea’s government. The money raised in 2024 was used to fund the country’s weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs, breaking both U.S. law and United Nations sanctions.

North Korean tech workers use stolen identities, fake documents, and made-up profiles to land jobs at real companies around the world, including in the United States. The North Korean government takes most of the wages these workers earn and uses the money for its weapons programs. Some workers have also secretly installed malware inside company systems to steal data, which they used to demand ransom payments.

Crypto Addresses Frozen Across Multiple Networks

Cryptocurrency is central to how the money gets moved. The March 12 action froze 21 cryptocurrency wallet addresses across multiple blockchain networks. One of those named was Nguyen Quang Viet, chief executive of a Vietnam-based firm called Quangvietdnbg International Services Company Limited.

Robby Alan Steele is among more than 2,000 investors who say they were defrauded by Goliath Ventures, a Florida-based crypto investment firm that prosecutors say collected hundreds of millions of dollars under false pretenses.

JPMorgan Named As Sole Financial Institution For Goliath
A proposed class action filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California accuses JPMorgan of letting Goliath use its banking infrastructure to pull in investor funds while ignoring warning signs that something was wrong.

According to the complaint, JPMorgan was the only bank holding Goliath’s accounts from January 2023 through mid-2025 — the bulk of the scheme’s run.

During that stretch, roughly $250 million passed through a single JPMorgan account linked to Goliath. About $123 million of that was sent to Goliath’s wallets held at Coinbase.

Attorneys say the sheer volume moving through one account should have triggered scrutiny under federal banking rules that require institutions to know who their customers are and what those customers do with their money.

“Chase, by virtue of its Know Your Customer obligations, actually knew that Goliath was acting as a private equity cryptocurrency pool operator investing money for investors, without being licensed at all to sell these investments,” the complaint states.

Goliath, originally called Gen-Z Venture Firm, operated from January 2023 until January 2026, based on court documents. CEO Christopher Delgado was arrested on Feb. 24 by the US Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
