A large crypto whale appears to have rotated capital from tokenized gold into Ethereum after executing a $22 million trade involving XAUT and ETH, according to on-chain activity spotted on Bitfinex.

Blockchain data shows that two wallets—possibly controlled by the same entity—deposited 4,480 XAUT, worth roughly $22.7m, to Bitfinex and withdrew 10,242 ETH, valued at about $21.9m, within a two-hour window.

The transaction suggests a significant shift from a gold-backed digital asset into Ethereum. This move may reflect changing sentiment among large investors.

Bitcoin Miners’ AI Shift May Create New Overhang, Lekker Capital CIO Warns
Lekker Capital CIO Quinn Thompson argues on X that collapsing mining economics, combined with a growing shift by public miners toward AI and high-performance compute, could turn corporate $BTC treasuries into a fresh source of market supply.

“A large underappreciated headwind for Bitcoin is the disaster that which is mining economics. The only way this heals is through a decline in hashrate, which is being spearheaded by the AI compute first movers like CORZ, WULF, CIFR, IREN, etc.,” Thompson wrote.

The chart Thompson shared, frames the problem visually. It shows aggregate bitcoin holdings across major listed miners climbing sharply through 2024 and 2025 before rolling over in 2026. Thompson’s argument is not that the AI pivot is bearish in structural terms.

On the contrary, lower hashrate and less uneconomic competition could improve mining industry health over time. His point is that the transition itself is expensive, and that capex-heavy AI buildouts may force miners to liquidate $BTC that had previously been treated as strategic treasury.

“While helpful to long-term health and sustainability of the network economics, it presents a dilemma for prices in the near-term as Bitcoin miners hold almost 80,000 Bitcoin on their balance sheets. As these companies pivot away from $BTC mining, they 1) need capital to fund the AI buildout capex requirements and 2) have no reason to hold any $BTC on their balance sheet (not that they should have before either),” he argued.

Circle shares are currently a profitable vehicle for investing in the still-nascent but potentially explosive stablecoin subsector.
Circle (CRCL) shares just delivered one of Wall Street’s sharpest equity runs of 2026. The stock closed Tuesday at $118.09, up 5.6% on the session, pushing the company’s market cap to roughly $27.81 billion.

Shares in Circle gained 42% year to date and more than doubled since bottoming near $50 in early February, outrunning an S&P 500 that’s down 1.12% and a Nasdaq 100 that’s down approximately 1% over the same stretch.

Bernstein analysts are staying bullish. The firm reiterated its “Outperform” rating on CRCL and maintained a $190 price target, implying 60% upside from current levels.

The thesis centers on accelerating stablecoin adoption and the regulatory clarity that’s making institutional deployment of digital dollars increasingly viable.

The numbers behind the call are hard to ignore. USDC’s market cap grew 73% to $75.12 billion in 2025, gaining ground on Tether as the dominant dollar-pegged token. Circle reported full-year 2025 revenue of $2.7 billion, up 64% year over year, with Q4 swinging to profitability on BlackRock-managed reserve yields.
The company beat Q4 earnings per share (EPS) estimates of $0.35 by delivering $0.43, triggering a 35% single-day surge on February 25 that marked the start of the current run.

Bernstein’s bullish thesis leans heavily on the GENIUS Act, passed in 2025, which established a federal regulatory framework for stablecoins, setting standards for reserve backing, disclosures, and oversight.

That kind of clarity is what converts institutional interest into institutional allocation. Wall Street’s appetite for regulated crypto exposure has been building steadily, and Circle’s equity is increasingly functioning as a proxy for that demand.

On March 12, the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced sanctions against six individuals and two entities involved in a North Korean-led fraud network targeting IT workers. The announcement claimed that these individuals systematically defrauded U.S. companies to fund weapons of mass destruction programs, with the amount involved approaching $800 million in 2024 alone.

Sanctions Details

According to OFAC, North Korean-controlled IT teams used forged documents, identity theft, and fabricated personas to conceal their true identities and gain employment with legitimate companies in the U.S. and other countries. The North Korean government seized the vast majority of these overseas IT workers' salaries, obtaining hundreds of millions of dollars to support its weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs. In some cases, North Korean affiliates also secretly implanted malware into corporate networks to steal proprietary and sensitive information.

 This round of sanctions targets six individuals (Nguyen Quang Viet, Do Pyong Kyong, Hoang Van Nguyen, Yun Song Guk, Hoang Minh Quang, and York Louis Celestino Herrera) who were identified as providing substantial assistance to North Korean IT workers in cryptocurrency exchange, money laundering, bank account opening, and IT business integration; and two company entities (Amnokgang and Quangvietdnbg) who were identified as key operators and facilitators in a fraud network perpetrated by IT workers.
