Bitcoin Prices Surge Amidst Ongoing Iran War, Investors Flock to "Redemption Transactions"

Bitcoin prices surged on Friday.

Despite the unresolved geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, Bitcoin prices continued to rise.

The entire cryptocurrency market saw widespread gains.

On Friday, Bitcoin continued its consistent pattern throughout its short history: unexpected moves.

Despite suffering a significant price drop two weeks ago when the Iran war broke out, and experts warning of a potential plunge as part of a broader sell-off in risk assets, the leading cryptocurrency is currently trading above $72,000, having previously approached $74,000 in early ET trading-its first such move since early February.

Bitcoin prices rose 2% over the past day. According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin prices have risen over 8% in the past month.

"Investors may believe that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole are oversold relative to other assets, and are therefore increasing their investments," GSR Research's Carlos Guzman told DL News.

The $ETH /BTC pair is forming a bearish engulfing candle. If it closes and the RSI trendline breaks, the first support to watch is 1,968, with a break below 1,800 opening the door to new lows.

For context, in the last update on the 11th, both pairs were sitting at key trendlines with direction still uncertain. Since then:

$BTC  pair tried to flip 0.03, but failed.

USDT pair got rejected around 2,200 as a result.

Now, the daily BTC pair is roughly 13 hours away from closing that potential bearish engulfing candle, with the RSI trendline also at risk.

The USDT pair is in a similarly weak position:

Sitting near the range high and value area high

All three signals aligning isn’t random it suggests distribution is happening.

If the BTC pair confirms the engulfing close and the RSI trendline breaks, the USDT pair is likely to revisit the 1,968 POC. If BTC then loses 0.028, the range breaks, and ETH could print lows not seen since April 2025, with $1,800 as the next structure level.

Think of it this way: BTC pair closes the door, USDT pair walks through it.

Equity perps been popping on my CT feed lately, so I dove into @Delphi_Digital’s excellent report by @trevor_flipper.

Here's a simple breakdown ↓

1. What even are equity perps?

You know how you can trade BTC/ETH with leverage on Hyperliquid?

Equity perps are the exact same thing but for stocks. AAPL, TSLA, NVDA.

Deposit USDC, pick a stock, go long or short with leverage, 24/7.

2. The problems right now:

Expensive. You're paying 11–31% annually just to hold a position vs 6.5% if you used a normal broker.

Order books are thin. Big orders move the price a lot.

Trade outside US market hours and spreads blow out badly. The price on the perp drifts away from the real stock price overnight.

3. So why does anyone care?

Because crypto perps looked exactly like this in 2024.

Everyone said the same thing: too expensive, books too thin, not worth it.

Then something changed.

Spot BTC launched directly on Hyperliquid and traders started buying real BTC and shorting the perp to collect that expensive funding as free yield.

That single flow cut BTC funding costs nearly in half within months, from ~18% down to ~9%. ETH followed the exact same path, dropping from ~15% to ~8%.

4. Equity perps are next:

US regulatory clarity is coming. NYSE is moving toward 24/7 trading.

Once you can trade the actual stock alongside the perp on the same platform, the same trade happens:

Here’s why XRP is set for a major 30% move

After days of consolidation around the $1.40 level, $XRP may be approaching a decisive moment as technical indicators point to a potential breakout.

In this regard, insights by cryptocurrency trading expert Ali Martinez in an X post on March 14 noted that the digital asset has been consolidating inside a symmetrical triangle pattern.

This formation typically precedes a strong directional move once price escapes the narrowing range.

The triangle’s upper boundary slopes down from about $1.70, forming lower highs, while the lower boundary rises from roughly $1.28, creating higher lows. This tightening range reflects declining volatility as buyers and sellers reach equilibrium, often signaling an impending breakout.

Notably, the pattern formed after $XRP dropped more than 30%, with the asset then moving sideways while repeatedly testing both support and resistance. Each rejection has further compressed the range, bringing the price closer to the triangle’s apex, where a breakout becomes more likely.

One of Wall Street’s most important voices on digital assets just made a statement about XRP. Zach Pandl, Head of Research at Grayscale Investments, told Paul Barron Network that XRP is positioned for a meaningful repricing event, and the trigger is something the entire crypto industry has been waiting on for years: regulatory clarity.Speaking directly on the question of whether XRP would be repriced if the proposed crypto legislation passes, Pandl was unambiguous.

“I do,” he said. “I think we would see a repricing across a range of assets, certainly including XRP.”

His confidence is rooted in what he is already seeing in the market. Grayscale’s GXRP product, the firm’s XRP-focused investment vehicle, has been drawing consistent and growing demand from institutional investors. Pandl described those investors as looking ahead to clarity and asking what it means to unlock further value in these networks.

In other words, sophisticated money is already positioning. The repricing, in his view, has not happened yet because the regulatory framework that would justify it has not arrived yet.

The conversation zeroed in on a specific and largely underreported element of the proposed crypto legislation: Section 205, which would require projects to demonstrate their blockchain meets a threshold of decentralisation to qualify as a mature blockchain under the law.

For Ripple, this clause carries direct implications. It would require the company to restructure or potentially burn portions of its XRP holdings to meet the 20% mature blockchain component requirement. Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s CEO, has publicly stated he believes the odds of the legislation passing are high, though the window for passage is narrowing.

According to analyst Julio Moreno, the recent shift developed gradually over the past few days and largely reflects improving capital inflows.
“Bull flags that turned on were: exchange flows, stablecoin liquidity growth and price momentum.”

Moreno noted that the change mainly reflects a shift in sentiment, moving from “extremely bearish” positioning to simply “bearish.” However, he cautioned that the development does not yet confirm the start of a sustained rally.

Social sentiment also appears to be improving.

Recent findings indicate that Bitcoin has continued to gain traction following the mining of the 20 millionth token earlier this month. The milestone has renewed market attention and added to broader market discussions around Bitcoin’s [BTC] long-term scarcity.

Taken together, the current market phase appears to represent a relief period.
