Data shows the Bitcoin mining Hashrate has witnessed a significant drawdown since the high at the start of March, a sign that miners are leaving.

Bitcoin Hashrate Has Seen Its 7-Day Average Value Plummet Recently
The “Hashrate” refers to an indicator that tracks the total amount of computing power that’s currently attached to the Bitcoin network. Its value is measured in terms of hashes per second (H/s) or the more practical exahashes per second (EH/s).

Miners connect computing power to the cryptocurrency network to solve certain mathematical puzzles that allow them the chance to add the next block to the chain. This computing power, however, never works as a collective. Rather, miners compete against each other over the block reward using their individual mining facilities.

While the total Hashrate doesn’t work in tandem, its measure is still relevant for the network, representing the interest from validators toward the cryptocurrency. When the value of the metric rises, it means new miners are joining the network and/or existing ones are expanding their facilities. Such a trend can be a sign that the chain is looking lucrative to the validators.

On the other hand, the indicator going down suggests some of the miners have decided to disconnect their mining rigs, potentially because they are no longer able to break even on their operations. Now, here is a chart from Blockchain.com that shows the trend in the 7-day average value of the Bitcoin Hashrate over the past year:

Australia’s Senate Economics Legislation Committee is considering a new bill that would require crypto exchanges and tokenization platforms to operate in accordance with the country’s existing financial services regime. Summary Australia’s Senate Economics Legislation Committee has backed a bill that would bring crypto exchanges and tokenised custody platforms under the country’s financial services licensing regime. Platforms that hold customer assets would be required to meet ASIC custody and settlement standards and follow governance and disclosure rules. Australian regulators are pushing for the passage of the Corporations Amendment (Digital Assets Framework) Bill 2025, which regulators hope will bring “digital asset platforms” (DAPs) and “tokenised custody platforms” (TCPs) under a clear licensing and oversight framework. The goal is to prevent a repeat of failures involving platforms that hold customer assets, as seen in the past with high profile collapses such as FTX. As previously reported by crypto.news, the legislation was first introduced in November last year and would require digital asset and tokenized custody platforms to operate under the Corporations Act and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act. Man Alleges Wife Stole $172 Million in Bitcoin After 'Covertly Recording' Him The wife of a UK resident is alleged to have stolen around $172 million in Bitcoin from her husband, according to court documents filed in the UK's High Court of Justice last week. The individual, Ping Fai Yuen, had more than 2,323 Bitcoin securely stored on his Trezor hardware wallet in 2023. But on August 2 of that year, unbeknownst to Ping, 2,323 Bitcoin was transferred from his wallet, and after multiple transactions, was dispersed across 71 different Bitcoin addresses. No transactions have taken place since December 21, 2023. Warned by his daughter that July that his now-estranged wife, Fun Yung Li, was trying to take his Bitcoin, Ping installed audio equipment in his residence. That led to recordings which allegedly implicate Fun, who potentially with the help of her sister, a second named defendant, Lai Yung Li, secretly recorded him and stole his seed phrase. "A recording of July 29, 2023 has been described on behalf of [Ping Fai Yuen] as capturing [Fun Yung Li] discussing CCTV which has been set up in the house, where the claimant sat and hid the password, using the wallet," the court documents say. XRP ($XRP) commands a market capitalization of roughly $91 billion, making it the largest cryptocurrency for cross-border payments.

The asset powers the XRP Ledger, a blockchain Ripple built to process institutional payments quickly at minimal cost, potentially replacing legacy systems like SWIFT.

In a recent blog post, Ripple reiterated the centrality of XRP as the liquidity bridge asset, while emphasizing XRPL’s enterprise readiness in services like cross-border payments, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets.
