The bounce past the key psychological level triggered a market-wide rally with altcoins such as MemeCore (M), FET, and Zcash (ZEC) leading gains with double-digit rallies on the day. Bitcoin’s surge led to large-scale liquidations across leveraged crypto markets. According to data from CoinGlass, nearly $498 million was liquidated, with over $330 million coming from short positions as traders closed bearish positions opened during the early February market sell-off. Bitcoin alone specifically accounted for $118 million of those short liquidations. Another major tailwind that supported today’s rebound is the return of consistent inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, signaling strong institutional demand. Data compiled by SoSoValue shows that the 12 U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs drew in over $200 million over the past day, extending their inflow streak to 6 straight days that drew in nearly $1 billion in total. It is worth noting that T. Rowe Price first filed for the Price Active Crypto ETF with the U.S. SEC in October 2025.

T. Rowe amends its crypto ETF filing

The filing suggests that traditional financial firms may be becoming more open to crypto. Instead of focusing solely on major assets such as Bitcoin [BTC] and Ethereum [ETH], the firm is considering a broader strategy that includes more volatile tokens, such as Dogecoin [DOGE] and Shiba Inu [SHIB].

That said, the proposed ETF would be actively managed, meaning managers could shift investments among approximately five to fifteen digital assets depending on market conditions.

The list will also include altcoins such as Solana [SOL], Ripple [XRP], and SUI [Sui], aiming to generate returns by moving between assets rather than simply tracking a single cryptocurrency.

Several factors may explain why this shift is happening now. Regulatory clarity has improved with legislation such as the GENIUS Act, giving traditional firms greater confidence to enter the crypto market.

At the same time, competition is increasing. After the U.S. SEC approved Generic Listing Standards in 2025 to speed up approvals for crypto exchange-traded products, asset managers began racing to launch more diversified crypto ETFs.

How is this filing different from the October filing?

The firm’s amended structure reflects a strong focus on security and compliance. The digital assets will be stored with Anchorage Digital Bank, which will act as the custodian for the tokens.

Why Taiwan Carries $10 Trillion in Global Risk

Taiwan sits at the heart of the global semiconductor supply chain. The island produces more than 60% of the world’s chips and over 90% of the most advanced processors used in artificial intelligence (AI), data centers, and smartphones.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) alone supplies firms like Apple, NVIDIA, AMD, and Qualcomm.

Bloomberg Economics modeled five potential scenarios for a Taiwan conflict earlier this year. In the worst case, a full-scale US-China war over the island could cause approximately $10.6 trillion in global losses.

That figure equals roughly 10% of global gross domestic product (GDP) and would dwarf the combined damage from the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even a blockade scenario, short of full war, could slash global GDP by an estimated 2.8% in the first year. Supply chains across electronics, automobiles, and industrial equipment would face immediate shortages if Taiwan’s chip production stopped.

US President Donald Trump has again pressured the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates immediately, saying at a White House meeting that they should have a “special meeting” to reduce rates.

“What’s a better time to cut interest rates than now? A third-grade student would know that,” Trump added, according to videos shared on X.

Trump has reiterated his calls for lower rates after stating on Truth Social on Thursday that the Federal Reserve chair “should be dropping interest rates, IMMEDIATELY.”

The president argued in January that the US should have “substantially lower” rates and “the lowest in the world,” labelling Powell “too late” and claiming he is “hurting our country, and its National Security” by maintaining high interest rate levels.

Trump has advocated for lower rates to reduce the cost of servicing the massive $39 trillion US national debt and stimulate economic growth, housing, and the stock market.

Lower rates can also push investors towards higher-risk assets like stocks and crypto. Cheaper borrowing costs also fuel broader market liquidity, meaning more money flows into speculative assets.

No rate changes likely at Fed’s Wednesday meeting

The US central bank kicks off its two-day March meeting on Tuesday and is slated to announce its rate decision on Wednesday.

However, CME futures markets paint a different picture, currently indicating a 99% probability that rates will remain unchanged in the 3.50% to 3.75% this week.

The outcome for the April 29 meeting is similar with a 97% probability of no change.

This is despite the expectation that Trump’s pick for Fed chair replacement, Kevin Warsh, who will take the helm in mid-May when Powell’s term ends, may be more open to cutting rates.
