$XRP's volume has declined by nearly 58% even as the broader crypto market shows signs of recovery early Sunday. $XRP's volume was down 58% in the last 24 hours to $1.23 billion, according to CoinMarketCap data, even as $XRP's price rose.

At the time of writing, $XRP was up 1.02% in the last 24 hours to $1.41 and up 3.76% weekly. $XRP is entering its fourth day of rise since March 12, rising to the higher bound of its recent trading range.

The rise continues a recovery from the March 8 low of $1.32. Although $XRP price rise has been slow, the market is presenting signs of renewed demand.

Analysts suggest that indicators that have historically marked the end of past downturns suggest the market sell-off could be entering its final phase.

Altseason is dead, expect shorter cycles and ‘violent’ rotations: Crypto exec

Traditional altcoin cycles, which featured broad market rallies called “altseason,” are now a relic of the past as new crypto market dynamics set in, according to Andrei Grachev, Managing Partner of DWF Labs, a crypto market maker and investment firm.

Too many tokens competing for limited capital and mindshare, a smaller number of market participants, and crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) altering market dynamics by trapping liquidity are driving factors of the disruption, Grachev told Cointelegraph.

An institutional focus on large-cap digital assets like Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) is also diverting capital and attention away from altcoins, he said.

“The long tail of tokens will still exist, but will largely function as high-risk venture or casino-style plays. The capital is not going to keep expanding fast enough to support all of it,” Grachev said. He added:

“That means shorter narrative windows, more violent rotations, and less room for weak projects to survive on hype alone. The market is moving away from broad altcoin rallies and toward more selective moves in specific sectors.”

Matt Hougan, the chief investment officer at investment firm Bitwise, also said traditional altcoin cycles are over, and that institutional investors are focused on yield-bearing digital instruments or crypto assets that capture revenue.

Venus Protocol, a major decentralized lending platform on the BNB Chain, recently suffered a sophisticated flash-loan attack, resulting in losses of around $3.7 million. Reports from BeInCrypto and on-chain security analysts indicate that the attacker exploited a vulnerability in the supply caps of the THE token (Thena).
By manipulating the platform’s deposit process, the attacker bypassed normal limits and created an inflated collateral position, allowing them to drain significant liquidity. Assets affected included Wrapped Bitcoin (BTCB), CAKE, and BNB. While Venus acted quickly to pause the affected markets and prevent further losses, this incident has raised renewed concerns about the risks of cross-protocol liquidity in DeFi.
Market Outlook
In the short term, analysts expect volatility for the XVS token as Venus works to resolve roughly $2 million in resulting bad debt. History shows that the platform has been resilient, suggesting recovery is possible if governance remains transparent and proactive.
If Venus implements stronger real-time monitoring and stricter supply cap oracles, the platform could experience a “relief rally”. On the other hand, failing to address these edge-case vulnerabilities may cause a 10–15% sustained drop in Total Value Locked (TVL) as users move their funds to more conservative DeFi platforms.

In a recent QuickTake post on CryptoQuant, on-chain analyst GugaOnChain reveals that a battle between different cohorts of Bitcoin investors is currently unfolding.

GugaOnChain cites the Long-Term Holder SOPR (Spent Output Profit Ratio) metric, which tracks whether long-term investors (who have held Bitcoin for at least 155 days) are selling their tokens profitably, or at a loss. Readings above 1 suggest that these investors are accumulating profits, while readings under 1 reveal otherwise.

According to GugaOnChain, the LTH-SOPR currently stands at 1.01, reflecting that Bitcoin’s long-term investors are exiting the markets at break-even, or with minimal profits. The analyst further explains that this means the “veterans are once again aggressively defending their acquisition cost at $70,675.”

At the same time, the Puell Multiple reflects a reading of 0.60, which GugaOnChain describes as a typical sign that the market is undervalued and that Bitcoin’s miners are starting to experience exhaustion. Usually, when the Puell Multiple falls to 0.5, it marks capitulation among miners.

It is worth noting that if the Puell Multiple should continue on its approach towards the 0.5 mark, the Bitcoin price could follow on such a bearish move, until its Realized Price at $54,000 is retested.
