Cardano's price closes in on $0.28 as retail buying grows - Breakout ahead?

Cardano’s price [ADA] was trading near $0.2768 at press time after rebounding from the $0.254–$0.260 support band, with the same absorbing selling pressure following February’s sharp drop.

Previously, the price briefly touched $0.2194, marking the cycle low before buyers stepped in. Since then, however, ADA has formed a sequence of higher lows, alluding to gradual accumulation.

At the time of writing, the price was challenging the $0.287 resistance, while the broader ceiling near $0.302 continued to cap upside attempts. Bollinger Bands revealed tightening volatility, with the price pushing above the middle band around $0.2646 – A sign of strengthening bullish momentum.

Meanwhile, the RSI at 68.55 seemed to be approaching overbought territory, signaling strong buying pressure but possible exhaustion ahead. The MACD was positive, with rising histogram bars supporting upward momentum.

As traders defend the $0.26 support, a breakout above $0.287–$0.302 could attract momentum buyers, while rejection may trigger consolidation back towards $0.254.

A long-term fractal analysis comparing the 2017–2018 and 2024–2026 cycles shows that XRP’s steep descent from its $3.65 all-time high mirrors a previous pattern that led to a strong price bottom and a swift rebound.

XRP’s weekly structure suggests a familiar setup: the drop to $1.10 mirrors a lower trendline retest of the symmetrical triangle in 2017, when the asset bottomed near $0.12 before launching higher.

Commenting on the structure, crypto analyst Javon stated that the current cycle could play out in a similar fashion to previous runs. “There is a potential we see this overall run unfold in an identical manner,” he noted, adding that the present decline may simply be a temporary correction before XRP potentially surges well beyond the $20 level.
In 2017, XRP traded within a symmetrical triangle as market leverage cooled. The consolidation eventually ended with a breakout above the pattern’s upper trendline, triggering a massive 1,577% rally.

If a similar structure plays out, bulls would need to drive XRP above the $1.78–$2.30 resistance zone to confirm a decisive breakout and signal the start of the next major rally.

This zone also marks a key technical confluence, where the triangle’s upper boundary near $2 aligns with both the 100-week simple moving average (SMA) and the 50-day SMA, reinforcing the area as a critical resistance level.

On-chain metrics further highlight this barrier. XRP’s UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) indicates substantial supply clusters positioned above the current spot price, with roughly 3.6% of the circulating supply concentrated around $2 and another 3.15% near $1.80. Together, these levels form a dense overhead resistance band that bulls must clear to sustain further upside.

On Thursday, the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) published a new report regarding the ongoing discussion in the US Congress about the Bitcoin de minimis tax exemption. This comes amidst Coinbase’s battle against accusations related to the issue that surfaced earlier this week.

Concerns Over Future Of Bitcoin Tax Legislation
The BPI has brought attention to the efforts of pro-cryptocurrency Senator Cynthia Lummis, who is seeking to incorporate a $300 de minimis provision into the reconciliation package referred to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Despite hopes for inclusion, the legislation was signed into law on July 4 without any provisions addressing crypto taxes. Shortly thereafter, Lummis introduced a standalone bill that proposes a $300 transaction threshold along with a $5,000 annual cap.

Her proposal also seeks to tackle longstanding concerns such as double taxation for miners and stakers, the wash sale rules, and other pertinent issues. The Joint Committee on Taxation has deemed the bill “revenue-positive,” predicting it could generate approximately $600 million over a decade.

Furthermore, during a Senate hearing on February 5, 2026, Treasury Secretary Bessent expressed a willingness for his Office of Tax Policy to collaborate directly with Lummis’ team on guidance related to the bill.

The House Ways and Means Committee held hearings regarding digital asset tax policy on July 16, 2025, and is expected to soon release relevant legislative text.

However, with the midterm elections approaching, the BPI believes Congress is likely to become increasingly focused on electoral dynamics, thus squeezing the capacity for complex tax legislation.

Senator Lummis will depart the Senate in January 2027, raising concerns that if a legislative package does not materialize soon, the opportunity for its implementation might not arise for years. The BPI concluded:

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has signaled a more cautious approach to blockchain innovation, recommending that the agency pursue an innovation exemption to allow limited trading and experimentation with tokenized securities within the present regulatory framework.

On March 12, the SEC Investor Advisory Committee meeting was held, where Commissioner Peirce stated, “Commission staff is working on an innovation exemption to facilitate limited trading of certain tokenized securities—much narrower than the “blanket” exemption mentioned in the draft recommendation.”

Meanwhile, the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee also warned against implementing a broad blanket innovation exemption for tokenized securities. The committee observed that such crypto assets are still subject to federal securities laws and should continue to be subject to existing regulatory restrictions, even as policymakers look for methods to encourage blockchain-based financial innovation.

According to a letter dated February 26, the IAC’s market structure subcommittee proposed that changes to existing SEC regulations might be achieved through a limited or narrow innovation exemption or through rule-by-rule amendments.

However, it highlighted that any such measures must go through the regular notice and public comment period. The panel also stated that its suggestions are based on broad principles, recognizing that the tokenization of equities is still in its early stages and requires extensive technological developments.

A Bitcoin Bullish Bias Toward Long Positions
With the shifting mood across the cryptocurrency market, the price of Bitcoin appears to be slowly stabilizing. As the market structure surrounding Bitcoin continues to evolve, traders are gaining a clearer understanding of the locations of key liquidation levels across major exchanges.

In a recent post on the X platform, Alphractal, an advanced investment and on-chain data analytics platform, shared that BTC liquidation levels are becoming evidently clear. During the clear liquidation signal, the majority of open positions presently being created are longs.

This trend represents the resurgence of bullish sentiment and interest among investors and traders. Over the past few days, BTC’s price has been moving in a sideways, volatile range. After a period of fluctuating within the range, forced liquidations have been triggered on both long and short positions. However, long positions are now the dominant side, with maximum pain around the $61,000 price mark. Meanwhile, short positions are concentrated near the $75,000 level.
