Spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $53 million in a single day this week, pushing monthly inflows past $1.16 billion — a sharp reversal after four straight months of outflows that drained more than $6 billion from those same funds.

ETF Inflows Signal A Shift In Investor Behavior

The turnaround is being read by analysts as a sign that investors are stepping back in after a prolonged selloff. Bitcoin was trading around $70,850 as of Saturday, up from lows earlier in the year, and technical indicators are pointing in a bullish direction.

The Relative Strength Index has climbed from an extreme low of 15 in January to 56, and the Supertrend indicator has flipped from bearish to bullish on the daily chart.

Prediction markets are reflecting that improved sentiment. On Kalshi, the probability of Bitcoin reaching $100,000 before January 2027 has risen to 40% — its highest reading since February. Polymarket puts the odds even higher, at 50%. To hit that target, Bitcoin would need to gain roughly 35% from current levels.

Macro investor Raoul Pal says the next two weeks could prove decisive for the cryptocurrency market, arguing that widespread pessimism among traders may be overlooking powerful macroeconomic forces building in the background.

In a recent market outlook, Pal said global liquidity remains the dominant macro driver of digital assets, citing 90% correlation with Bitcoin and 97% with the Nasdaq‑100 Index since 2012.

The investor noted that global liquidity continues expanding at roughly 10% annually and shows little sign of slowing. According to Pal, the Global Macro Investor financial conditions index leads liquidity by about six months and is still easing.

Raoul Pal added that a recent “air pocket” in U.S. total liquidity, created when government funding flows were temporarily curtailed, appears to have bottomed three months ago and is accelerating again. Since this measure tends to lead crypto markets by about three months, the rebound could soon filter into digital asset prices.

Pal also pointed to an accelerating business cycle, rising bank liquidity through the enhanced supplementary leverage ratio mechanism, incoming U.S. tax refunds that expand bank balance sheets, and China’s expanding balance sheet as additional sources of liquidity. Expected U.S. rate cuts may also increase disposable income and risk-taking.

Furthermore, Pal said the proposed CLARITY Act may unlock participation from banks and asset managers seeking regulatory certainty. Stablecoin issuance, which expanded roughly 50% last year, is growing rapidly, with transaction volumes already reaching trillions of dollars.

Stablecoin uncertainty could hurt banks more than crypto firms: Expert

Regulatory uncertainty around stablecoins could place traditional banks at a greater disadvantage than crypto companies, according to Colin Butler, executive vice president of capital markets at Mega Matrix.

Butler said financial institutions have already invested heavily in digital asset infrastructure but remain unable to deploy it fully while lawmakers debate how stablecoins should be classified. “Their general counsels are telling their boards that you cannot justify the capital expenditure until you know whether stablecoins will be treated as deposits, securities, or a distinct payment instrument,” he told Cointelegraph.

Several major banks have already developed parts of the infrastructure needed to support stablecoins. JPMorgan developed its Onyx blockchain payments network, BNY Mellon launched digital asset custody services, and Citigroup has tested tokenized deposits.

“The infrastructure spend is real, but regulatory ambiguity caps how far those investments can scale because risk and compliance functions will not greenlight full deployment without knowing how the product will be classified,” Butler argued.

On the other hand, crypto firms, which have operated in regulatory gray zones for years, would likely continue doing so. “Banks, by contrast, cannot operate comfortably in that gray area,” he added.
