The Expected Survey Results Are Here: What Will the FED Decide on Interest Rates? 96 Top Economists Answered!
The ongoing war between the US and Iran, events in the Middle East, and the rapid rise in oil prices have all begun to fuel fears about inflation and the Federal Reserve.

At this point, with discussions suggesting a possible delay in Fed interest rate cuts, or even a decision to raise rates, economists’ expectations have emerged.

Most economists surveyed by Reuters expect the Fed to cut interest rates by 25 basis points next quarter, bringing them to between 3.25% and 3.50%.

Of the 96 economists surveyed, 63 supported this view; this is higher than the 51 out of 101 participants who predicted a rate cut in the February survey.

In a survey conducted between March 6-12, all economists expect the Fed to keep interest rates unchanged at 3.50-3.75 percent on March 18.

However, approximately two-thirds of economists predict that the Fed will cut interest rates to 3.25-3.50 percent in June.

In contrast, 29 of the 37 economists surveyed said it was more likely that the Fed would keep interest rates stable for an extended period.

The survey median suggests there could be two interest rate cuts by the end of the year.

Recently, a post about Anthropic went viral on social media. The poster, Ole Lehmann, claimed that Anthropic, a company valued at $380 billion, had an entire growth marketing team consisting of only one person—a marketer with no technical background—who single-handedly handled paid search, paid social media, app store optimization, email marketing, and SEO for nearly ten months.

The post was quickly questioned in the comments section, but the person involved soon confirmed it. This growth marketer, named Austin Lau, replied that he was indeed the only one doing growth marketing when the report was written, and he single-handedly managed it for almost ten months.

Anthropic released an official case study at the end of January this year, detailing Austin Lau's working methods.  Around the same time, Anthropic also released an internal white paper titled "How the Anthropic Team Uses Claude Code," covering ten use cases from data infrastructure to the legal department, with growth marketing being one of them.

The white paper stated that the growth marketing team, focusing on channels such as paid search, paid social media, mobile app stores, email marketing, and SEO, was a "non-technical one-person team" that relied on Claude Code to automate repetitive marketing tasks, building automated workflows that traditionally required significant engineering resources.

Many Bitcoin miners are struggling to turn a profit this market cycle due to diminishing returns, so they may need to pivot to artificial intelligence hosting or put their holdings to work to generate yields, says market maker Wintermute.

Wintermute said in a blog post on Thursday that Bitcoin ($BTC) miners have spent years building large-scale power infrastructure in low-cost energy markets, and they now find themselves “sitting on exactly what the AI industry needs most urgently and cannot easily replicate.”

It said that Bitcoin mining is a “structurally rigid business model,” and while the AI pivot is a compelling one, it is also a “drastic and capital-intensive step.”

The report comes as mining giant MARA Holdings is the latest to eye AI, filing with the SEC on March 3 to signal its intent to sell some of its $BTC to pivot to the technology. Meanwhile, publicly listed miners have sold more than 15,000 Bitcoin since October.

Miners hanging onto Bitcoin is “legacy of the HODL era”

Wintermute said that Bitcoin miners are collectively holding close to 1% of the total $BTC supply, which it argued was a “legacy of the HODL era,” and that the “full toolkit of treasury management remains largely untapped.”

Crypto yield generation has been traditionally limited to staking and DeFi, but Wintermute said miners could tap yields through active management, such as monetizing market risk through derivatives structures, covered calls, and cash-secured puts.

Passive management options include deploying $BTC into lending protocols to earn interest.
