BlackRock's iShares Staked Ethereum Trust (ETHB) recorded $15.5 million in trading volume on its first day of trading Thursday, with 592,804 shares changing hands on Nasdaq. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart described the debut as "very, very solid for a day 1 ETF launch."
The fund holds a mix of 80% staked Ethereum and 20% Ethereum, with Coinbase serving as custodian. It launched with $106.7 million in net assets and charges a 0.25% sponsor fee, reduced to 0.12% on the first $2.5 billion in assets under management for the first year. Staking rewards will be distributed monthly and sourced from Ethereum network validators operated by Figment, Galaxy Digital, and Bitwise-owned Attestant.

ETHB's opening-day volume came in below comparable stakingETF launches tied to Solana. The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) recorded $55.4 million on its October debut, while the REX-Osprey SOL + Staking ETF (SSK) posted $33.7 million when it launched in July. The gap reflects differences in market timing and investor appetite at each fund's respective launch date.

The product rounds out BlackRock's crypto ETF lineup alongside the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) and iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA). IBIT has attracted more than $62.8 billion in inflows since its 2024 launch, according to Farside Investors data, while ETHA has pulled in $11.9 billion over the same period.
BlackRock is also pursuing a Bitcoin Premium Income ETF that would sell covered call options on Bitcoin futures to generate yield through collected premiums. ETHB adds a yield-generating mechanism to BlackRock's Ethereum exposure, differentiating it from ETHA, which holds unstaked Ethereum.

CLARITY Act 2026 odds 'extremely low' if not passed before April: Exec

The US CLARITY Act, aimed at bringing greater regulatory clarity to the crypto industry, may have little chance of passing this year if it doesn’t move forward within the next seven weeks, according to a crypto executive.

“If CLARITY doesn't pass committee by the end of April, odds of passage in 2026 become extremely low,” Galaxy Digital head of firmwide research Alex Thorn said in an X post on Saturday.

“This needs to hit the Senate floor by early May... floor time is running out, and odds diminish every day that passes,” Thorn said. It comes after US Senate Majority Leader John Thune said he doesn’t expect the chamber to act on the digital asset market structure legislation before April, as it will prioritize the SAVE America Act, which would require voters to provide proof of US citizenship in person to register.

Stablecoin rewards debate may not be the last hurdle

Thorn said the main perceived holdup for the CLARITY Act is the debate over whether stablecoin rewards will disrupt the traditional banking system — which has split the banking and crypto industry — but warned that more issues could surface after that debate is settled.

“It's very possible that rewards are not the 'final' hurdle but instead just the current hill the bill is dying on,” Thorn said, pointing to potential issues around DeFi, developer protections, and regulatory authority.

US Senator Angela Alsobrooks, a key Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, recently said that crypto and banking lobbies will both have to accept compromises. “All of us will probably walk away just a little bit unhappy,” she said on Tuesday.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has explained why the blockchain was absent from a recently shared list of 87 crypto companies and networks that Mastercard has partnered with.

The discussion started after crypto researcher Thomas Bush mapped out Mastercard’s ecosystem of crypto partners across several categories. Community Questions Cardano Absence

The omission triggered discussion within the Cardano community. One $ADA holder, @navir333, argued that many projects constantly focus on building new technology and struggle to achieve real-world integration.

The commenter cited Mastercard’s growing crypto network as an example. He noted that despite Cardano’s long development history, it was not on the integration list. Navir directly asked Hoskinson what the project might be doing wrong.

Hoskinson Points to Lack of Dedicated Integration Push

Hoskinson explained that the core issue lies in Cardano’s structure. Specifically, he cited the absence of a permanent organization focused on partnerships and integrations.

According to him, the situation differs from newer initiatives like Midnight blockchain, where a dedicated foundation actively pursues ecosystem integrations every day.

Hoskinson explained that Cardano lacks a similar permanent effort. While a group called Pentad previously pushed for integrations, he said the initiative was a one-time effort and needs to become a continuous activity if the network hopes to secure more large-scale partnerships.
