Crypto code commits fall 75% as developers move to Al projects Blockchain ecosystems are losing developers across the board while artificial intelligence projects dominate growth on GitHub, the world's largest platform for hosting and collaborating on software code.

Weekly crypto commits (publishing new code) to repositories have fallen roughly 75% since early 2025, dropping from about 850,000 to 210,000, while active developers declined 56% to around 4,600, according to data from analytics platform Artemis.

Repositories track where developers are writing code, building tools and launching new projects, they offer one of the clearest signals of where software innovation is happening.

The contraction stands in stark contrast to the broader software ecosystem. GitHub added about 36 million developers in 2025 alone, bringing its global base to more than 180 million, with platform-wide commits rising roughly 25% year over year, according to GitHub's Octoverse report.

Much of that growth is flowing into artificial intelligence. GitHub now hosts more than 4.3 million Al-related repositories.

The number of repos importing large language model software development kits surged about 178% to more than 1.1 million over the past year, while generative Al projects now attract more than 1 million monthly contributors.

The numbers suggest developers are reallocating time toward Al infrastructure rather than blockchain.

Over the last day, Bitcoin prices have remained within the $70,000 – $72,000 region, recording no significant movement. This market calmness comes after the premier cryptocurrency’s initial breakout above the $70,000 resistance during the past week, before prices retraced. With Bitcoin now sustaining a price move above the former $70,000 barrier, on-chain data has identified the multiple key levels that deserve investors’ attention in analyzing the next major price move.

Bitcoin Bulls Eye Return To $95K Region, But Key Resistance Awaits 

In an X post on March 14, seasoned analyst Ali Martinez states that Bitcoin confronts a major price barrier at the $73,726 price point, according to data from Glassnode’s MVRV Pricing Bands. For context, these bands represent a common valuation framework derived from the MVRV Ratio, and used to assess whether Bitcoin is undervalued, fairly valued, or overvalued relative to the cost basis (realized price) of investors.

Notably, Bitcoin presently trades around $71,600 below the -0.5 band, a notable support level in bull markets, that presently aligns with the $73,726 price level. According to Ali Martinez, if Bitcoin can decisively reclaim this level, it would boost bullish sentiments and potentially initiate a price surge to around $95,894, which currently represents the mean band and is considered the fair market value for

$SHIB rose 1,549% in future netflows as traders adjust positioning in the market. Shiba Inu saw more futures inflows than outflows in the last 24 hours, with a 1,549.47% futures netflow jump.

The rise in futures netflows remains significant as it might indicate an increase in margin inflows as traders add to positions amid increased risk appetite.

CoinGlass data records $14.25 million in Shiba Inu futures inflow, while outflows came in at $13.80 million. The net difference yields a positive netflow of $446,810, resulting in a netflow increase of 1,549.47%. The rise in netflow comes as prices drop in the market, with Shiba Inu falling as a result.

At the time of writing, $SHIB was down 2.66% in the last 24 hours to $0.00000592 amid a broader sell-off, which saw $203 million in liquidations.

Shiba Inu rose for five days at a stretch from a low of $0.00000528 on March 9 to reach $0.00000063 on Friday before retreating. Shiba Inu fell to a low of $0.00000585 early Saturday as short sellers added to their positions.

However, with on-chain indicators flipping positive, shorts may get squeezed if buyers return to the market to continue the $SHIB price rise, but a break of the $0.00000627 barrier, which matches the daily MA 50, is required first.

Potential scenarios

The daily RSI is at 50 or neutral, which suggests the possibility of sideways trading as the market seeks stability from a multi-month sell-off, which pulled major cryptocurrencies, including $SHIB, to multi-month lows.

Altcoins have sharply underperformed recently, with major cryptocurrencies down significantly from their peaks. Likewise, mentions of an "altseason" on social media have plunged to their lowest level in at least two years.
