A Crypto platform confirmed that their main domain website had been hacked, which exposed its users to a wallet draining exploit.

A No-Fun Crypto Hijack
It is a truth universally acknowledge that, no matter the size of a global geopolitical crisis, hackers will continue to ravage through the crypto market. This time, the victim was memecoin issuance platform Bonk.fun. In a March 12 post on the social network X, Tom (@SolportTom), one of its operators, warned the users not to interact with the domain “until further notice”, as hackers had injected a crypto wallet drainer on it:

Do not use the https://t.co/4xXs3cMJx0 domain until further notice, hackers have hijacked a team account forcing a drainer on the DOMAIN.

The official X account of the Solana token launchpad, backed by Raydium and the BONK community, also announced the hack and echoed Tom’s striking warning:

A malicious actor has compromised the BONKfun domain, do not interact with the website until we have secured everything.

Who Is Affected And How
Tom explained that the phishing scam set up a fake “Terms of Services” (TOS) signature prompt which, when signed, allowed the drainer to move the unaware user’s funds. According to Tom, the only users compromised were the ones who interacted with the fake TOS. He clarified that neither previously connected users nor traders of bonk fun tokens on third-party terminals were affected. He also assured that the security breach was spotted early so “the losses are minimal to date”:

Year-to-date flows for IBIT remain slightly positive, with approximately 90% of the investor base maintaining steady accumulation patterns through the drawdown. Billionaire hedge fund manager Stan Druckenmiller, once a Bitcoin holder, has predicted the possibility of crypto replacing the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency in the future. 

Crypto As A Global Reserve Contender

In a recent interview, Stanley Druckenmiller questioned whether the U.S. dollar can retain its highly sought-after status half a century from now.

“I doubt the US dollar will be the reserve currency in 50 years, but I don’t have a clue what would be. Maybe some crypto thing I hate,” he stated. 

Druckenmiller also raised concerns about the current financial markets, highlighting excessive asset inflation as his primary worry for the year.

Speaking recently during Morgan Stanley’s Hard Lessons series, the famed investor downplayed fears of liquidity crises or policy missteps, instead pointing to ‘narrative-driven bubbles’ as the biggest threat to the economy. 

“I have never seen, and I’ve studied a lot of economic history, a really bad economic outcome—something much worse than a garden variety recession… without an asset bubble,” Druckenmiller opined. “They’re all preceded by asset bubbles. So, if you really, really want to cause a big problem… create an asset bubble.”

When asked whether the market is in the early phase of such a bubble, Druckenmiller warned that the cycle is already well underway. “Maybe eighth inning,” he said. “If we went materially from here, I’d be very concerned.”

For years, Druckenmiller steered clear of crypto, famously calling it a ‘solution in search of a problem.

In November 2020, amid the Federal Reserve’s multi-trillion-dollar pandemic stimulus, Druckenmiller disclosed that he had purchased Bitcoin as a hedge against fiat currency debasement.

The next big Bitcoin policy fight may have nothing to do with ETFs or government legislation, but with a dry Federal Reserve capital proposal that most investors will never read.

The landscape is simple: will big banks continue to treat Bitcoin as a balance sheet hazard, or will US capital rules begin to leave room for more serious bank intermediation around it?

With the Fed expected to vote next week on a revised Basel proposal and then open a 90-day comment window, this little-noticed rulemaking could become one of the most important banking decisions for Bitcoin in years.

Reuters reported on Mar. 12 that the Fed plans to vote next week on a revised Basel proposal for large banks and then open a 90-day public comment period.

Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman said the same day that proposals covering Basel III and the G-SIB surcharge would be published in the coming week.

Most crypto investors do not care about prudential terminology, but they do care about whether their bank will eventually offer better Bitcoin services, whether crypto firms can more easily secure bank relationships, and whether Wall Street integration expands beyond ETFs.

The current Basel framework is restrictive enough to make those questions materially harder for banks to answer.

This all comes amid increasing tension between the US crypto industry and banks as they continue to clash over the stalled Clarity Act. The President chose a side this month by directly blaming banks for the delay.
